1,500 UK Chevening Scholarships 2022 for Developing Countries

Chevening Scholarships are available to study for one-year master’s degrees at UK universities. Through Chevening, outstanding emerging leaders from around the world can pursue one-year master’s degrees in the UK. While there is no ‘typical’ Chevening Scholar, those who are successful often have ambition, leadership qualities, and strong academic backgrounds.

Applicants who meet our eligibility criteria and other requirements are encouraged to apply. We do not care about your gender, age, orientation, religion, marital or parenthood status, caste, class, or other attributes. Your application should demonstrate you are capable of excelling on an intensive master’s course in the UK, and that you have a clear vision for your future – and perhaps even that of your sector.

Individuals with strong academic backgrounds and demonstrated leadership potential are awarded Chevening Scholarships. With this scholarship, you can study for a Master’s degree at any of the UK’s leading universities and join an influential alumni network of 44,000 people around the world.

Eligibility: To be eligible for a Chevening Scholarship you must:

  • A Chevening-eligible country citizen
  • Following the end of your award, you must return to your country of citizenship for a minimum of two years
  • You must have an undergraduate degree that will allow you to enter a postgraduate program at a UK university. In the UK, this is equivalent to an upper second-class 2:1 honours degree.
  • Working experience of at least two years (for fellowship programmes, this may be up to five years).
  • By 15 July 2022, you must have received an unconditional offer from one of three eligible UK university courses.

 

Chevening Scholarship Benefits: 

  • Fees for tuition;
  • You must travel by an approved route to and from your country of residence;
  • Allowances for arrival;
  • An award for the preparation of a thesis or dissertation (if necessary);
  • Excess baggage allowance;
  • An entry clearance (visa) application fee for you only;
  • Accommodation and living expenses are covered by a monthly personal living allowance (stipend). You will receive a different stipend depending on whether you are studying inside or outside London. The current rate outside London is £917 per month, and the rate inside London is £1134 per month (subject to annual review).

What is the application process?

  • The Chevening program requires applicants to submit their education documents, references, and an unconditional offer from a UK university.
  • There are deadlines for these required documents in the Chevening application timeline. Upload them using the ‘update my application’ button above.
  • To remain in the process if you are conditionally selected for a Chevening Scholarship, you must submit these documents.

Sponsors: The Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) provides funding for Chevening Scholarships, with further contributions from universities and other partners in the UK and abroad.

Important Notes: Scholars are conditionally selected for an award eight months after the application deadline.
