Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto (UDUSOK) admission list that contains the names of candidates offered provisional admission into UDUSOK various first-degree programmes for the 2020/2021 academic session is out.

Admission list is the names of successfully admitted applicants offered provisional admission into an institution.

Admission lists are usually released by institutions after the conduct of the admission screening exercise. It comes in different batches; 1st batch (Merit List), followed by 2nd, 3rd and .

Shehu Usman dan Fodio, born Usman ɓi Fudi, was a  scholar, religious teacher, revolutionary, military leader, writer, promoter of Sunni Islam, and the founder of the .

Shehu Dan Fodio was a descendant of one of the clans of urbanized ethnic  living in the  since the early 1400s in what is now northern Nigeria.

He belonged to the Maliki school of fiqh (Islamic jurisprudence) and a staunch follower of the Athari Islamic Creed.

Shehu Dan Fodio taught Maliki fiqh in the city-state of until 1802. dan Fodio began a social revolution according to Islamic teachings which spread from Gobir throughout modern Nigeria and Cameroon and was echoed in a  movement led by the Fula people across West Africa.

Dan Fodio declined much of the pomp of rulership, and while developing contacts with religious reformists and jihad leaders across Africa, he soon passed actual leadership of the Sokoto state to his son, .

Shehu Dan Fodio wrote more than a hundred books concerning religion, government, culture, and society. He developed a critique of existing African Muslim elites for what he saw as their greed, paganism, violation of the standards of Sharia law, and use of heavy taxation

He encouraged literacy and scholarship, for women as well as men, and several of his daughters emerged as scholars and writers.

 His writings and sayings continue to be much quoted today and are often affectionately referred to as Shehu in Nigeria.

Some followers consider dan Fodio to have been a mujaddid, a divinely inspired “reformer of Islam”.

Shehu Dan Fodio’s uprising was a major episode of a movement described as the Fula jihads in the seventeenth, eighteenth, and nineteenth centuries.

 It followed the jihads successfully waged in Futa Bundu, Futa Tooro, and  between 1650 and 1750, which led to the creation of those three Islamic states.

In his turn, the Shehu inspired a number of later West African jihads, including those of , founder of the , Omar Saidou Tall, founder of the , who married one of dan Fodio’s granddaughters, and Modibo Adama, founder of the Adamawa Emirate.

The Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto (formerly the University of Sokoto) is one of the four Universities established by the Federal Government of Nigeria in September 1975.

Classes started on October 20th, 1977, with an initial enrolment of ninety-three students for the degrees of Bachelor of Arts, Bachelor of Arts/Science in Education and Bachelor of Science; and an academic staff strength of thirty-three.

Currently, UDUSOK prospective students can only access their admission status on the JAMB admission status checking portal by following the procedure outlined below:

1. Go to the JAMB admission portal at .

2. Login to your Jamb profile with your username and password.

3. Scroll down then locate and click the ‘Check Admission Status‘ tab.

4. Select your Exam year and enter your registration number in the required column.

5. Finally, click on ‘Check Admission Status‘ to access your UDUSOK admission status.

Candidates successfully admitted into the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto (UDUSOK) are advised to:

Candidates not yet admitted should note that admission is in progress, and regularly check the JAMB site and  for their admission status.
