The IFCN is pleased to announce Three education scholarships and Three research scholarships for Young Clinical Neurophysiologists for 2021.

- Education Scholarship: The IFCN awards THREE scholarships each of USD 25,000 for young clinical neurophysiologists wishing to spend at least 6 months in a neurophysiological laboratory with a national/international reputation. Applicants are expected to advance their training in Clinical Neurophysiology.
- Research Scholarship: The IFCN awards THREE scholarships each of USD 25,000 for young clinical neurophysiologists wishing to spend at least 6 months in a neurophysiological research laboratory with a national/international reputation. Applicants are expected to participate in a research project.
Eligibility: These scholarships will be split between applicants from economically disadvantaged countries and applicants from developed countries and cover at least 6 months of study (application should stipulate the duration of studies). 5. Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung (FES) Doctoral Scholarship Program
The Friedrich Ebert Foundation supports international students from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe who study at universities in Germany. International students from all subjects (except the medical disciplines) are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
Application Deadlines: Applications will be accepted no later than:
- diploma/magister/state examination: by the end of the 6th semester
- Bachelor/ undergraduate programs: until 3 semesters before finishing the standard period of study (if 6 semesters by the end of 3rd semester; if 7 semesters by the end of 4th semester)
- postgraduate/ Master programs: by the end of the 1st semester

About the Award: The promotion of young talent has been one of the founding principles of the FES.
At the time when Friedrich Ebert was elected as the first president of the Weimar Republic, it was almost impossible for talented children from socially disadvantaged backgrounds to study at universities or take part in research programs.
With the foundation of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in 1925, the first scholarships were awarded to particularly talented young individuals from a working-class milieu who was taking an active part in the young democracy of the Weimar Republic.
To address social disadvantages by supporting students who actively work for freedom, justice and social cohesion in their commitment to social democracy, or will do so in the future, continues to be one of the aims of the FES.
Type: Doctoral
Eligibility: The FES can only award scholarships to applicants from abroad who have already enrolled in a German university or have a supervisor for their doctoral studies.

- For the FES, service to the common good deserves recognition. It is therefore not only the applicants’ academic achievement but their social and political involvement and personal attitudes that play an important part in the selection process.
- The FES also supports foreign applicants who are already studying, or doing their postgraduate studies, in Germany at the time of application. Up to 40 students from Africa, Asia, Latin America, and Eastern Europe may qualify for the scholarship program every year except for those who are already receiving some support from public sources.
- Students are expected to be living in Germany before they apply and have to provide proof of an adequate command of the German language by submitting a language proficiency certificate ( C 1, TestDAF)
- Since foreign scholarship holders will receive an extensive social and political side program, German language proficiency is crucial even when the study program itself (M/B) is carried out in English.

- Individual interviews: In a second step, selected candidates will be invited to two individual interviews. The first interview will be conducted by one of the lecturers from the FES, and the second interview by one of the members of the FES scholarship committee (AWA). - Discussion and final decision by the AWA: The AWA will eventually make a final decision about your application. The AWA is an independent body composed of university lecturers as well as other persons from the fields of science, politics, art, and media. The committee meets at least three times a year. 6. Aga Khan Foundation Scholarship 2021
The Aga Khan Foundation provides scholarships each year for postgraduate studies to outstanding students from select developing countries. Scholarships are awarded on a 50% grant: 50% loan basis through a competitive application process once a year in June or July.
Application Deadline: 31st March 2021. In certain countries, internal deadlines maybe earlier.

Eligible Countries: The Foundation accepts applications from nationals of the following countries: Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Syria, Egypt, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Madagascar, and Mozambique. In France, Portugal, UK, USA and Canada, applications are accepted from those who are originally from one of the above-developing countries, are interested in development-related studies and who have no other means of financing their education.

Selection Criteria and Eligibility: The main criteria for selecting award winners are:

Preference is given to students under 30 years of age.

Value of Scholarship: The Foundation assists students with tuition fees and living expenses only. The cost of travel is not included in AKF scholarships.
Applicants are requested to make every effort to obtain funding from other sources as well so that the amount requested from the Foundation can be reduced to a minimum. Preference is given to those who have been able to secure some funding from alternative sources.
Loan Conditions: Half of the scholarship amount is considered as a loan, which must be reimbursed with an annual service charge of 5%. A guarantor is required to co-sign the loan agreement. The payback period is five years, starting six months after the study period funded by the Aga Khan Foundation.
