Whatever religion you follow baptism is a big deal. Getting baptized is a very important step in the Christian life because it symbolizes one of the most important decisions a person can make in life, which is to proclaim his commitment to God.
When a child is being baptized it is traditional for the parents to give Godparents for their child. The godparents become the child’s special friends, advocates and teachers. They are in a position to help guide the parents as they prepare their child for the reception of baptism and the responsibilities which flow from it.
