– Flinders University Nursing Scholarship –

Flinders University is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students for their Flinders University Nursing Scholarship. It is a fully-funded scholarship for all students.

About Flinders University

Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honor of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century.

The St Theodore’s Anglican Church Nursing Scholarship has been established to provide assistance to undergraduate Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Bachelor of Nursing students undertaking their Professional Experience Placement (PEP) at an approved clinical education facility in a rural or in remote setting.

Aim and Benefits of Flinders University Nursing Scholarship

The scholarship will provide a contribution towards a living allowance and travel costs, and subject to the availability of funds, will be awarded to one student to a total value of $2,000 annually.

Requirements for Scholarship 

Applicants for the scholarship must:

1. Be of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.

2. Identify as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

3. Be accepted as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander.

4. Be enrolled in, or intending to enroll in, a PEP topic in the second or third year of Bachelor of Nursing at Flinders University.

5. Be undertaking the placement in a rural venue as defined by the Australian.

6. Statistical Geography Standard Remoteness Areas 2-5 excluding Mount Barker.

7. The clinical education facility has been approved by the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

Selection Process

The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of academic merit and the applicant’s commitment to working in a rural or remote area upon completion of their studies.

Selection of the candidate(s) will be made by a panel which will include representatives from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences and the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement.
