Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon Scholarship 2022 Application Update

Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon Scholarship is now open for applications from suitably qualified students. It is a fully funded scholarship for all students sponsored by Radio France Internationale (RFI).

About the Scholarship

Created in homage to his two reporters murdered on November 2, 2013 in Kidal, in northern Mali, this scholarship rewards each year a young journalist and a young African technician.

The scholarship will be awarded on November 2, the date declared by the United Nations “International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists” in memory of Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon.

Benefits of Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon Scholarship

The winners benefit from a one-month training course in Paris. The scholarship will be awarded on November 2 during a special broadcast on RFI.

Because of the global health crisis, the 2022 edition is open to all young journalists and technicians with an experience in radio living in the following French-speaking countries.

Selection Process

Ten candidates in each category are selected to participate in a training session in Dakar on Oct. 17 to 30. The fellowship will be awarded on Nov. 2 on the International Day to End Impunity for Crimes Against Journalists. Recipients receive one month of training in Paris.

The jury made up of representatives from RFI, the Sciences Po School of Journalism and the INA will meet in Paris to designate the two winners at the end of this training period.
