Emile-Boutm Scholarships 2022 Application Update

Emile-Boutm Scholarships is now open for applications from suitably qualified students. It is a fully funded scholarship for all students sponsored by the Sciences Po.

About the Scholarship

In order to carry out the vision of its founder, Geneviève McMillan (1922-2008), and to honor her friend, the artist Reba Stewart, the Geneviève McMillan-Reba Stewart Foundation was founded in 2005. (1930-1971). McMillan’s love of Africa is honored by the scholarship.

Since 2010, the McMillan-Stewart Foundation and the Sciences Po American Foundation have collaborated to provide merit-based scholarships that provide deserving African students from sub-Saharan African nations access to France’s higher education system.

Benefits of Emile-Boutm Scholarships

Undergraduate Scholarship: The Emile Boutmy program can take several different forms:

1. A tuition grant of €7,300 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program, in addition to a grant to cover part of the cost of living of €5000 per year.

2. A tuition grant of €7,300 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program.

3. A tuition grant of €5,000 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program.

4. A tuition grant of €3,000 per year for the three years of the undergraduate program.

On an exceptional basis, a scholarship of 19,000€ may be granted to cover the three years of College. Scholarship amounts are decided during the different admission juries.

Your scholarship will be forfeited if you fail to validate your academic year.

If you have been awarded a scholarship and choose to postpone your admission, you will forfeit your scholarship.

Scholarship awardees will keep their tuition grant and any additional cost-of-living grant (if applicable) during their year abroad (third year of the undergraduate degree).

Masters Scholarship: The Emile Boutmy/Miem program can take several different forms:

1. A grant of €10,000 per year to cover tuition fees for the two years of the Masters

2. A tuition grant of €5,000 per year for the two years of the Masters.

If you do not validate your academic year, your scholarship will be lost.

If you have been granted for a scholarship and you decide to defer your admission, your scholarship wil be lost.

Requirements for Emile-Boutm Scholarships

To be eligible for the scholarship, students must be: first-time applicants, from a non-European Union state, whose household does not file taxes within the European Union, and who have been admitted to the Undergraduate or Master’s program.

Students who are not eligible are:

1. Swiss and Norwegian applicants, since they may be entitled to CROUS scholarships.

2. Candidates who have dual citizenship, including an EU citizenship.

3. Candidates from Quebec for master’s degree (since they may take advantage of sliding scale fees same as European applicants). Candidates from Quebec for a bachelor’s degree are eligible.

Master’s level dual-degree candidates. Only applicants for the following dual degrees are eligible:

a). The dual degree in Journalism Sciences Po/Columbia University

b). The dual degree Sciences Po/Fudan University with the concentration Europe-Asia in Global Affairs (only applicants with Chinese nationality)

c). The dual degree Sciences Po/Peking University (only applicants with Chinese nationality)

4. Ph.D. program students (thesis).

5. Candidates for the 1 year Master’s programs.

6. Bachelor dual degree candidates (unless as part of a specific agreement).

7. Exchange students

8. Candidates applying via the French graduate admission procedure.

Documents Required for Application

You must submit documentation outlining your family situation and a proof of income for undergraduate applications (e.g. income tax return for both parents, payslips, divorce certificate, unemployment benefits, documents related to alimony, child support or retirement pensions, death certificate…).

For an application at graduate level no additional documents must be attached, however note that we might ask applicants to provide a proof of income if necessary.
