There are nine Departments within the commission. The Recruitment and Appointment Department is one of the Core sections of the Commission.
The department is made up of two divisions – Recruitment, Secondment and Transfer Divisions.
Under the department, there is a Director, two Deputy Directors, three Assistant Directors and a host of other Administrative, Executive, Secretariat and Clerical officers whose functions include:
1. Collation of vacancy positions from MDA.
2. Processing and recruitment of eligible graduates into the Federal Civil Service.
3. Arranging for interviews by placing an advertisement for vacancies in national dailies, television, radio and the internet.
4. Processing of all applications for transfer of service or secondment back and forth or within the mainstream Federal Civil Service.
5. Issuance of appointment letters or transfer/secondment of service to successful applicants.
6. Regularisation of appointment after six months of offer of provisional appointment.
7. Issuance of movement forms and changing staff.
8. Any other duty assigned by the Chairman.

1. Must be a Nigerian
2. 2nd Class Degree from recognised University plus NYSC Discharge Certificate for Officers
3. Age: 20 to 25 for Officers and 18 to 22 for Other Ranks

10. West African School Certificate (WAEC) with Credits in not less than three (3) subjects including English and at least passes in two (2) other subjects.
11. Candidates must have National Examination Council (NECO) with passes in four (4) subjects got at one sitting or five (5) subjects got at two sittings including the English Language.)
12. National Diploma (ND) got from a recognised institution.
13. All candidates must have a valid means of identification such as a valid driver’s license, National Identification Card, International passport, Voter’s card etc.
14. Ability to work with basic computer applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
15. Geographical mobility within and outside Nigeria.
