– Bachelor of Midwifery Scholarship –

Flinders University is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students for their Bachelor of Midwifery Scholarship. It is a fully-funded scholarship for all students.

About Flinders University

Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honour of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century.

Flinders is a verdant university[citation needed] and a member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group and ranks in the 10-16 bracket in Australia and 36th in the world of those established less than 50 years.

The Leahurst Nurses’ Foundation Scholarship has been established to provide financial support to students experiencing financial hardship, as a result of undertaking their final clinical placement in their undergraduate Bachelor of Midwifery degree. The scholarship is open to all students undertaking their final placement in 2022.

The scholarship is valued at $2000 paid within two weeks of commencement of the final clinical placement.

Requirements for Bachelor of Midwifery Scholarship 

1. The Scholarship will be awarded on the basis of financial need and academic merit.

2. Selection of the candidate(s) will be made by a panel which will include representatives from the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

3. The scholarship is awarded at the discretion of the selection panel. There is no obligation to offer the scholarship in any given year, should there not be a suitable applicant.

Applicants for the scholarship must:

1. Be enrolled or enrolling in their final clinical placement of an undergraduate Bachelor of Midwifery degree at Flinders; and

2. Be able to demonstrate financial hardship and/or anticipated financial disadvantage as a result of undertaking the placement; and

3. Have a GPA of 4.5 or above; and

4. Not be in receipt of a similar scholarship for the same placement.

5. The scholarship is open to all students undertaking their final placement in 2022. Applicants can apply even if the details of their final placement have not yet been confirmed (placements for some students won’t be confirmed until after the scholarship closing date).
