Craig Ruddy Scholarship is currently open for applications from suitably qualified students. The scholarship is fully funded for all students and is sponsored by the Flinders University.
The Craig Ruddy Scholarship
, a public university located in Adelaide, South Australia, was named after Matthew Flinders, a renowned navigator who mapped the South Australian coast in the early 1800s.
Craig Ruddy, the winner of the 2004 Archibald Prize for his portrait of Yolgnu actor David Gulpilil called “Two Worlds,” donated some of the proceeds from the sale of his artwork to establish a scholarship.
His intention was to support Indigenous medical students in the Northern Territory by providing educational and mentoring opportunities in the medical field.
Benefits of Craig Ruddy Scholarship
At least one scholarship will be offered annually, with a maximum value of $5000 per recipient, paid in two equal parts after the semester’s census date.
The quantity of scholarships given out will be based on the amount of funding that’s accessible.
Requirements for Craig Ruddy Scholarship
To be qualified for the scholarship, candidates must meet the following requirements:
1. Have Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander ancestry.
2. Be recognized as an Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander by the community where they currently or previously resided.

4. Have maintained a permanent residence in the Northern Territory for at least five years.
5. Be admitted as a full-time student at Flinders University.
6. Be admitted in the Northern Territory Medical Program.
7. Be able to demonstrate financial need.
8. Be able to demonstrate a commitment to improving health outcomes in the Northern Territory.
Selection Criteria
The scholarship selection process will be based on two criteria, including financial need and a proven commitment to enhancing health outcomes in the Northern Territory.
The College of Medicine and Public Health, in collaboration with Yunggorendi Student Services, will assess and select scholarship recipients using the University’s standard procedures.
