VARIOUS DEPARTMENTS AND THEIR FUNCTIONS IN A COSMETICs AND LOTION COMPANY

Cosmetics Industries is divided into various departments each department is further divided into sessions  which makes the production of their products more efficient. These departments include:-

1.                  Human Resource department

2.                  Administrative department

3.                  Operations department

4.                  Production department

5.                  Security department

6.                  Quality control department

HUMAN RESOURCE DEPARTMENT 

This department is headed by the human resource manager. The department takes care of recruitment of workers, promotion and welfare of workers. This department is also responsible for the calculation of wages and overtime for workers. 

ADMINISTRATIVE DEPARTMENT

The administrative department managers heads this department. This department is responsible for all administrative activities as well as operations of the plant. The functions of this department include:

1.                  Carrying out basic administrative function.

2.                  Keeps stock of raw materials and supplies some to the appropriate manufacturing unit.

3.                  Provision of logistics

4.                  Distribution of finished products sales deport and also monitors sale

5.                  Interacts with Government agencies such as NIPOST, PHCN, licensing offices e.t.c

OPERATIONS DEPARTMENT         

This department is in charge of most of the equipments and raw-materials used for production. They also manage the entire store in the factory including finished goods store.

PRODUCTION DEPARTMENT

This is the department responsible for the mixing of raw materials to product finished goods of a proportional homogeneity, conversion of raw materials into finished product. This department is divided into sections and each section is responsible for the production a particular product, the sections under the production department include:-

·        Shower bath section

·        Jelly cream section

·        Air freshener section

·        Lotion section  

SECURITY DEPARTMENT    

This department is headed by the chief security officer (CSO). This is the department that ensures that the company’s properties, materials, employers are protected.

QUALITY CONTROL DEPARTMENT     

This department is responsible for sampling of raw-materials and products, specification and testing with the organization documentation and follow procedures which ensures that the necessary tests are carried out and that products are of a satisfactory quality and release for sale. This department has two subsections known as Evaluation unit: which is responsible for active research and development of new product. Inspection unit (packing floor) which is responsible for inspection of finished product to ensure that substandard product are not sent to the market.
