About Strathclyde Business School
Founded in 1948, the University of S Business School (SBS) is a pioneering, internationally renowned academic organisation that shapes and develops the business minds of tomorrow.
Strathclyde Business School is one of four faculties forming the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.
The University was established in 1796 as ‘the place of useful learning’ and this remains at the forefront of our vision today for Strathclyde to be a leading international technological university.
This school makes a positive difference to the lives of its students, to society and to the world.
SBS has established international centres in Greece, Switzerland, UAE, Oman, Bahrain, Singapore and Malaysia.
With around 150 academic staff and more than 3000 full-time and part-time students (undergraduate and postgraduate).
Strathclyde Business School’s subject departments and specialist units collaborate to provide a dynamic, fully-rounded and varied programme of specialist and cross-disciplinary courses.
We are a triple-accredited business school: the first business school in Scotland to hold this accolade, and one of only 88 in the world to be triple-accredited, holding accreditation from the international bodies.

The application process and Requirements
Minimum entry requirements: The minimum entry requirements for the PGDE courses at Strathclyde are set by the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS). One of the requirements set by the GTCS is that all applicants must have:
➛ National Qualifications in English at SCQF Level 6 (for example, Higher Grade) or an accepted alternative; and
➛ National Qualifications in Mathematics at SCQF Level 5 (for example, National 5, Credit, Standard Grade or Intermediate 2) or an accepted alternative
If you do not already have these qualifications, there are a number of ways you can obtain them through night classes and distance learning which will make it easier to fit around family and work commitments.
Due to stiff competition for places some PGDE courses require to have English and Maths qualifications in place before applying/submitting an application, please check each for course individual entry requirements.
Submitting your Application
– Scottish, UK & EU applicants:
Although the PGDE is a graduate-entry course you are required to submit your application via the UCAS applicant system. You can find the appropriate UCAS code in the ‘key facts’ section of the PGDE course pages.
– International (Non-EU) applicants:
International applicants are required to apply through Pegasus, the University’s online application system. You will find links to the application form in the ‘apply’ section of the course pages.
– Part-time applicants:
All part-time applicants are required to submit their application via Pegasus, the University’s online application system.
Required documents:
Once you have submitted your application via UCAS you need to send our admissions team copies of your supporting documents so that we can fully access your application. These documents include:
➛ Your degree certificate
➛ Your academic degree transcript listing all the modules you have completed
➛ Evidence of Higher English (or equivalent) with a grade between A-C
➛ Evidence of National 5 Maths (or equivalent) with a grade between A-C
International applicants should upload all these supporting documents via Pegasus.
We accept the following document formats: BMP, DOC, DOCX, GIF, JPG, PDF, PNG, RTF, TIF, TIFF, TXT, XLS, XLSX.
What if I don’t have these documents?
You can request your degree certificate and academic transcript from your graduating university. If you are still in the process of completing your degree please send the most up-to-date version of your academic degree transcript.
If you are currently completing the relevant English or Maths qualification your application will still be considered based on your academic degree transcript.
The Interview
If you meet the minimum entry requirements and are successful in your application you will be invited for an interview.
Interviews usually take place on campus but in some cases be arranged via Skype, you will be at no disadvantage if you are interviewed in this way.
Throughout the year members from our School of Education will also be conducting interviews in Belfast and Dublin.
The possible results of the interview are:
➛ Unconditional offer
➛ Conditional offer (you still need to satisfy the entry qualifications in some way)
➛ A rejection of your application
If successful an offer will be made through UCAS who will then communicate the result to you. Offers for international and part-time students will be made via Pegasus.
