About FRSC
In February 1988, the Federal Government created the Federal Road Safety Commission through Decree No. 45 of 1988 as amended by Decree 35 of 1992 referred to in the statute books as the FRSC Act cap 141 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria (LFN).
Passed by the National Assembly as Federal Road Safety Commission (establishment) Act 2007.

Branches of Federal Road Safety Commission in Nigeria
According to the commission’s official website, https://frsc.gov.ng/zonal-commands/ there are 12 FRSC zonal headquarters across the country.
The zonal headquarters were initially five in its first year of establishment.
However, the number increased to 12 in 2004 due to the need for much workforce in the agency.

Strength of Federal Road Safety Commission
Just like every other paramilitary, FRSC is legally supported by the Federal government of Nigeria.

CATEGORY A – RMA Cadre:
- Road Marshal Assistant II.
- Applicants must be holders of SSCE (WAEC/NECO) or NABTEB, two of the subjects must be English Language and Mathematics.
- Road Marshal Assistant III.
- Applicants must be holders of three (3) credits in SSCE (WAEC/NECO) or NABTEB, one of the credits must be in the English Language.
- Artisans and Tradesmen. Artisans and Tradesmen may apply under this category.
- Those applying for the posts of Computer Operators, Drivers, Mechanics, Motorcycle Riders, Electricians, Instrumentalists, Tailors, Plumbers, etc must possess the following:
- A minimum of 4 passes in SSCE (WAEC/NECO) or NABTEB.
- Trade Test and or other professional Certificates.
- Drivers and Riders must have the appropriate class of Driver’s Licence
CATEGORY B – MI Cadre:
- Marshal Inspector I.

Federal Road Safety Commission Recruitment Requirements
Aspiring applicants are expected to possess any of the following:
• Possession of B.Sc, , , OND concerning the applied position from a recognized institution.
• Any added certificate either postgraduate or professional certification will be of advantage.
• NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate.
• West African School Certificate (WAEC) with Credits in not less than three (3) subjects including English and at least passes in two (2) other subjects.
• Candidates must have National Examination Council (NECO) with passes in four (4) subjects obtained at one sitting or five (5) subjects obtained at two sittings including the English Language.)
• (ND) obtained from a recognized institution.
• National Certificate of Education (NCE) from a recognized institution.
• All candidates must have a valid means of identification such as a valid driver license, National Identification Card, International passport, Voters card etc.
• Ability to work with basic computer applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).

What you are Expected to Do as FRSC Officer
- As a road safety officer, you’ll help to combat highways accident to the minimal level;
- Another job you’ll be doing is to ensure that nothing is blocking the highways you’ll be posted to.
- When you’re employed, it will always be your duty to educate drivers, motorists and other members of the public generally on the proper use of the highways;
- Designing and producing the driver’s license to be used by various categories of vehicle operators;
- Last but not least is that you’ll give drivers all the necessary guidance about safe driving.
