1. Nigeria’s Army Puts Boko Haram On The Back Foot
The chief of staff of Nigeria’s army, General Tukur Buratai, has often declared victory over Boko Haram, a jihadist group known for kidnapping girls and strapping bombs to children.
But it was only in April, after soldiers from neighboring Chad attacked the rebels’ bases, that he felt confident enough to move his headquarters from Abuja, the sleepy federal capital, to Borno state, the heart of the insurgency.
It was intended as a signal that Nigeria was entering the final stages of a bloody war that has raged for more than ten years and cost perhaps 40,000 lives.
2. Nigerian Army Distributes Palliatives To Lagos Community
The Nigerian Army on Saturday distributed palliatives to the Onigbongbo community in the Maryland area of Lagos as part of activities marking the 2021 Army Day celebration.
Reports have it that over 700 families received packages containing rice, beans, groundnut oil, cartons of noddles, bread, and tin tomatoes. The palliative was to make life easier for the residents of the community.
This is the Nigerian Army’s way of showing concern towards those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic which made it difficult for them to make ends meet.
3. Nigerian Military Committed to Nation’s Sovereignty
The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt Gen Tukur Buratai, has said that the Nigerian Army is committed to the nation’s sovereignty.
Buratai stated this Saturday at the Amanawa Infectious Hospital, Shuni, and Ruga village in Dange Shuni Local Government Area of Sokoto State while presenting palliatives to some patients and the less privileged to commemorate this year’s Nigerian Army Day celebration.
He further appealed to Nigerians to support the activities of the Army by providing information for tracking criminals in their domain.
4. General Buratai Inaugurates Projects Nationwide
The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai has inaugurated several projects across the eight divisions of the Nigerian Army nationwide in commemoration of the Nigerian Army Day Celebration (NADCEL) 2021.
The Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Col. Sagir Musa, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja. Musa said the projects were in line with the desire of the Chief of Army Staff to uplift the living standards of army personnel and ensure excellent civil-military relations.

5. Nigerian Army Distributes Palliatives To Vulnerable Persons in Edo
The Nigerian Army on Saturday distributed palliatives to Vulnerable persons in the Igoh community, Upper Ekenhua in Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo.
Brig.-Gen Usman Bello, Commander, 4 Brigade, Benin, who distributed the palliatives on behalf of the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen Tukur Buratai, said the exercise was part of activities to mark the 2021 Army Day celebration.
Bello said that the COAS took cognizance of the vulnerable people in the community in particular and the society at large as well as widows of military personnel in the Ekenhua cantonment.
