UNILAG PG Application: The University of Lagos School of Postgraduate Studies aims at providing systematics academic and research programs, geared towards the high-level manpower needs of the country and the world.

Postgraduate Studies began informally in various departments at the University of Lagos in the 1966/67 academic session. In July 1981, a School of postgraduate studies was established by Senate to coordinate and develop research studies through a formalized University-wide program.

In pursuance of this mandate, the school has trained thousands of staff for the Nigerian industries, Universities in Nigeria and abroad, Nigeria’s National Universities Commission, polytechnics, monotechnics and colleges of education, the armed forces, federal and state government, and international agencies, as well as private establishments.

UNILAG Postgraduate Application Forms

The School of Postgraduate Studies, University of Lagos – the University of First Choice and the Nation’s Pride, a leading, reputable first generation institution for postgraduate education and research in Africa, is situated in the commercial nerve center of Nigeria.

The University hereby extends the sale of application forms for suitably qualified candidates from recognized institutions for admission into the 2023/2024 session’

Prospective candidates should visit the School of Postgraduate Studies, University of Lagos Portal, https://spgs.unilag.edu.ng, and click the 2023/2024 applications link for detailed information.

  • Applicants are advised to visit the University of Lagos, School of Postgraduate Studies () regularly on the dates for the Qualifying Examination / Interviews and any additional information.

UNILAG PG Registration for new Students

Login to the Unilag Postgraduate student , then follow the steps below

  • Click on the ‘Students’ link on the menu and click on ‘Current Student’
  • Login with your Application No as Matric No and your Surname in lowercase as your password.
  • You will be required to change your password after login and
  • Update Biodata
  • Log in to the student portal to schedule a date for screening. You may be required to upload the following documents in order to schedule an appointment.

Degree Certificate (if you didn’t send a transcript to the PG school):

– Evidence of change of name (marriage certificate/newspaper advert)

– NYSC certificate

  • Proceed to the School of Postgraduate Studies on the scheduled date for screening
  • Come to the screening venue and pick Prospectus for a fee of N7,500 (Compulsory)
  • Upon successful completion of screening Proceed to make payment online or take the payment advice to any commercial bank in Nigeria to make a payment please note that Instalment payment is only available for Part-Time students. (Students are required to pay both Obligatory and Tuition Fees before they can Register Online.)
  • Complete your course registration form Online
  • Print two (2) copies each of the Course Form, Acceptance Form, Biodata, Admission Letter, Payment Advice, and Receipts
  • The Course Forms need to be signed by the Student, Head of Department, and Bursar in that order.

UNILAG Postgraduate Application Guidelines

  • Sale of Application Forms commences on Monday, 25th May 2021, and ends on Sunday, 14th August 2021.
  • Completed Application Forms are to be submitted ONLINE not later than Sunday, 21st August 2021.
  • Visit the School of Postgraduate Studies University of Lagos Portal, , Click the 2023/2024 Applications link ()
  • Confirm availability and your eligibility for the desired course.
  • Click the “Application Form” link and select the Postgraduate option from the Application Type menu
  • Complete the Pre-Application Form to obtain a Payment Reference Number. (please print the payment advice)
  • Proceed to make payment of the non-refundable fee of N22,500.00 (Twenty Two Thousand and Five Hundred Naira Only)for the Form, and charges through any of the below options:
    1. Remita Payment: Any commercial bank using the RRR number displayed on the payment advice
    2. Online Payment: Click the PayNow link to make payment directly on the portal with your bank debit card.
  • After payment, return to the School of Postgraduate Studies website , click the 2023/2024 Application link, then “Continue Application” link, log in with Payment Reference Number and provide surname in lowercase as password.
  • Complete the Application form and upload a digital passport photograph (jpeg format) which should not be more than 15KB in size and must be on a white background. The acceptable dimension is width: 275 pixels or 35mm, height: 314 pixels or 40mm. (Failure to comply with specified image format may lead to disqualification.)
  • Click the “SUBMIT FORM” button if the information is correct, else, click the DECLINE button (CANDIDATES ARE ADVISED TO CONCLUDE THE FINAL SUBMISSION ONLY AFTER THEY HAVE COMPLETELY FILLED THE FORM. PLEASE NOTE THAT EDITING OF APPLICATION FORM AFTER FINAL SUBMISSION ATTRACTS A N1,000 CHARGE).

  • Candidates are advised to read the requirements for their desired programs carefully to confirm eligibility.
  • Candidates awaiting Bachelor’s degree results or are currently undergoing Postgraduate programs or Nigerian citizens who have not completed the National Youth Service Corps assignments are not eligible.
  • Holders of Degrees obtained from Outreach/Satellite campuses are not eligible.
  • Every applicant is required to upload EVERY credential listed on the application form for admission such as: (a) Degree Certificates (Not Statement of Results) (b) NYSC Certificate (c) Professional Certificates.
  • All-Academic Transcripts must reach the Secretary of, School of Postgraduate Studies on or before the beginning of the registration/screening exercise.
  • All M.Phil./Ph.D. candidates are required to contact the relevant Departments for the availability of Supervisors/vacancies before applying.
  • Check the dates for ONLINE Qualifying examinations/Interviews and any additional information on the website of the University of Lagos, School of Postgraduate Studies () from 28th August 2021.

Check UNILAG Admission List

Currently, you can only access your UNILAG admission status from the JAMB admission status checking portal, follow the procedure outlined below:

  • Go .
  • Login to your Jamb profile with your username and password.
  • Scroll down then locate and click the ‘Check Admission Status‘ tab.
  • Select your Exam year and Enter your registration number in the required columns.
  • Finally, click on ‘Check Admission Status‘ to access your UNILAG admission status.

Successfully admitted candidates are advised to go to the JAMB CAPS portal to ACCEPT or REJECT the offer —  How to Reject/Accept Your Admission on JAMB CAPS.

Check Semester Result On Unilag Portal

Here are a few steps to follow to check your results via the institution online portal;

  • Log on to the institution student results portal 
  • Login with your matriculation number and password to access your online profile
  • Select the session and semester you want to view its results and click on submit. The results will be displayed before you.
