The Nigeria Police is the primary police serving Nigeria. The Nigerian Police (NP) is the principal law enforcement agency in Nigeria with staff strength of about 371,800.

There are currently plans to increase the force to 650,000, adding 280,000 new recruits to the existing 370,000.

General Requirements
Applicants must have a passion for a career in the Nigeria Police Force and must satisfy the following:

  • The applicant shall be of Nigerian origin by birth and possess National Identity Number (NIN).
  • Applicant must possess a minimum of Five (5) Credits in not more than two sittings in WASSCE/GCE/N ECO/NABTEB with credit passes in English and Mathematics
  • All Applicant must be aged between 17 – 25 years
  • Applicant must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit and must not be less than 1.67m tall for males and 1.64m tall for female
  • Also, all Applicant must not have less than 86cm (34 inches) expanded chest measurement (for men only)
  • Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of the recruitment
  • Applicant must be free from any pecuniary embarrassment
  • Applicant must print their completed online forms, guarantor forms and submit the same at the examination/screening and recruitment centre.

Important Information about Nigeria Police Force Recruitment 2021

A candidate who is suffering from any one of the underlisted abnormalities or deformities shall not be accepted for enlistment into the Nigeria Police Force:

  • Impediment in speech
  • Gross malformation of teeth or jaw preventing proper mastication of food
  • Knock knees
  • Bowlegs
  • Bent knees, i.e Knees that cannot be straightened when standing at attention
  • Deformed hands that cannot perform the full functions of the hand
  • Defective eyesight or squint eyes
  • Amputation of any part of the body

N/B: Male applicants must not be less than 1.68 meters tall while female applicants must not be less than 1.65 meters tall.

NPF Available Positions

Category A: Police Constable

  • Academic and Age Requirements for both Specialist & General Duty
  • Specialists
    • To apply for a Specialist position, candidates must possess relevant certificates and/or credentials in the required technical discipline.
    • During application, ensure that you click on the Specialists’ Option Button and then select the appropriate field you qualify for from the list of possible positions

Category B: Cadet Inspector

  • Academic and Age Requirements for both Specialist & General Duty
    • Be between 23 and 28 years of age.
    • Have a minimum of either Ordinary National Diploma (OND), Advanced Level (A-Level), National Certificate of Education (NCE), or their equivalent.
  • Specialists
    • To apply for a Specialist position, candidates must possess relevant certificates and/or credentials in the required technical discipline.
    • During application, ensure that you click on the Specialists’ Option Button and then select the appropriate field you qualify for from the list of possible positions.

Category C: Graduate Cadet Assistant Superintendent

  • Academic and Age Requirements for both Specialist & General Duty
    • Be between 23 and 28 years of age.
    • Have a Bachelors Degree or High National Diploma (HND)
    • Have an NYSC certificate
  • Specialists
    • To apply for a Specialist position, candidates must possess relevant certificates and/or credentials in the required technical discipline.
    • This Certificate must be equivalent to the minimum entry qualification(s) of the position applied for.
    • During application, ensure that you click on the Specialists’ Option Button and then select the appropriate field you qualify for from the list of possible positions.

Nigeria Police Force (NPF) General Requirements

Before or After your application, you must download a copy of the Guarantor’s Form. This is to be signed by verifiable references from any two (2) of the following:

  • Traditional Rulers
  • A Magistrate,
  • Local Government Chairman,
  • Heads of Educational Institutions attended
  • Career Civil Servant not below the rank of Grade Level 12,
  • Any Police Officer not below the rank of CSP
  • Lastly, Military Officer not below the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

Meanwhile for Specialists, to apply for a Specialist position, candidates must possess relevant certificates and/or credentials in the required technical discipline.

This Certificate must be equivalent to the minimum entry qualification(s) of the position applied for.

During application, ensure that you click on the Specialists’ Option Button and then select the appropriate field you qualify for from the list of possible positions.

You MUST have a functional/working email address before you proceed with your application!

You are therefore advised to carefully choose the category you are eligible for, as multiple applications would lead to disqualifications.

  • The and the Nigeria Police Force DO NOT demand or accept gifts or gratification to offer employment.
