– AIMS Rwanda Fellowship –

The African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS) is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students for AIMS Rwanda Fellowship. It is a fully-funded scholarship for all students.

Aim and Benefits of AIMS Rwanda Fellowship

PhD

1. The Ph.D. positions are tenable for 3 years, contingent on satisfactory progress, and could be extended for one more year.

2. Monthly scholarships are 1.325 EUR (during stays in Rwanda) and 1.200 EUR (during research stays in Germany).

3. Tuition fees are covered.

4. Travel costs (if applicable) are covered.

5. Health costs are covered.

6. Additional benefits are made available for mobility when commencing and finishing the scholarship in Rwanda and for a research stay at the Goethe University during the course of the doctoral project.

7. The positions are expected to start as soon as practicable, aiming for late 2022.

PostDoc

1. The postdoc fellowships are tenable for one year, on satisfactory progress, and could be extended for one more year.

2. Monthly scholarships are 1.850 EUR (during stays in Rwanda) and 2.000 EUR (during research stays in Germany).

3. Travel costs (if applicable) are covered.

4. Health insurance costs are covered.

5. Additional benefits are made available for mobility when commencing and finishing the scholarship in Rwanda and for research stays at the Goethe University during the fellowship.

6. The position is expected to start as soon as practicable, aiming for late 2022.

Requirements for AIMS Rwanda Fellowships 

Eligibility for PhD applicants

1. A Master’s degree in mathematical sciences (a two-year degree is strongly preferred).

2. Strong interest in one of the areas indicated above.

3. Any experience in the areas indicated above is a plus.

4. Good coding skills (e.g., Python, Matlab/Mathematica, and similar) are a plus.

5. Academic excellence.

6. Good skills in English.

7. Preferably a national of an African country.

Eligibility for PostDoctoral applicants

1. A PhD degree in mathematical sciences (PhD graduation at most 6 years before the start of the fellowship).

2. Strong interest and background in one of the areas indicated above.

3. Previous research in the areas indicated above is a strong plus.

4. Good coding skills (e.g, Python, Matlab/Mathematica and similar) ae a plus.

5. Academic excellence and track record in research.

6. Good communication skills in English.

7. Preferably a national of an African country.
