The Alliance for Women in Media Foundation (AWMF) and ESPN have teamed together to help Black women break into the sports media sector.

ESPN’s $10,000 grant to AWMF will fund two $3,750 educational scholarships for talented Black female graduate students and Black female junior or senior undergraduate students seeking careers in sports media for the spring semester of 2021.

3. The Walter J. Travis Memorial Scholarships

The Travis Society Scholarships are given to students interested in landscape design/golf course architecture, golf course turf grass management/golf course superintendent, professional golf management, club professional, or sports journalism with a golf focus.

In addition, great amateur high school/college/university golfers will be considered for our scholarship grants based on their competitive record as amateur golfers and the requirements given below (with exception of career goals). Amateur golfers do not need to be seeking a career in the golf business to apply.

1. Overall application materials quality, including completeness and clarity of information supplied, current references/recommendations, and an essay that shows a comprehensive comprehension and respect of the guidelines.

2. A record of academic achievement.

3. Participation in golf-related activities and hobbies.

4. We admire students who want to “give back to their communities” through volunteering.

5. Successful competition participation for individuals in the amateur golfer category.

6. Proof of maintaining a GPA of 3.00 or higher.

4. UNF JT Townsend Scholarship

This scholarship is available to U.S. students who will be college juniors or seniors studying sports management at the University of North Florida College of Education and Human Services. Students must have a 2.5 or better grade point average.

Eligibility Requirements:

1. This scholarship is available to U.S. students who will be college juniors or seniors studying sports management at the University of North Florida College of Education and Human Services.
