Bauchi State University Portal: The vision of Bauchi State University is to become a center of excellence in scholarship in as many academic disciplines as may be needed in response to intellectual and other development needed of the people of Bauchi State in particular and nation at large.

What is known as Bauchi State was, until 1976, a province in the Northern Eastern State of Nigeria. According to the census in 2006, the state has a population of 3.5 million inhabitants.

Bauchi State occupies a total land area of 49.259.01 sq. km representing about 5.3% of Nigeria’s total landmass and is located at latitude 903’ and 1203’ North of the Equator. Longitudinally, the state lies between Longitude 8050’ and 110 East of the Greenwich Meridian.

The state is bordered by seven states; Kano and Jigawa to the North. Taraba and Plateau to the South, Gombe, and Yobe to the East, and Kaduna to the West.

History of Bauchi State University

was established under the Bauchi State law promulgated in 2010. In March 2011 Bauchi State Government appointed a consultant to resolve all outstanding issues and put the finishing touches necessary for the smooth take-off of the University to commence academic programs in the 2011/12 session.

Consequently, three campuses were approved, one in Gadau (Azare) which will be the main campus and home to the University’s apex administration, then the Misau campus, and Bauchi campus respectively.

Bauchi State University Academic Faculties

Bauchi State University, Gadau is one of the recently established government-owned universities. The realization of having a university in the state dawned on the authorities when they realized that students seeking to further their education in the state had to apply to universities outside of the state for study.

The university was established and commissioned by the National Universities Commission in 2011. The following 10 Faculties provide study programs to students of the university:

Bauchi State University Admission Requirements

Prospective candidates seeking admission into the Bauchi State University must possess the following qualifications:

WAEC/NECO Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSC), General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level (GCE O’ Level), National Technical Certificate/National Business Certificate with Credits in five (5) relevant subjects obtained at not more than two sittings. A credit in O’ Level English Language is required for all courses.

Bauchi State University Application Process

The tuition fee per session as approved by the governing board of the Bauchi State University is as divided into two for fresh students into the university:

Bauchi State indigenes are to pay the sum of ₦50,000, while Non-Indigenes of Bauchi State are to pay the sum of ₦70,000.
