BeitTrust is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students into BeitTrust Postgraduate Scholarships for students. It is a fully-funded scholarship for all students.

About BeitTrust Postgraduate Scholarships

The Trust awards a few Postgraduate Scholarships to deserving Malawian, Zambian, and Zimbabwean scholars to study at the UK and South African universities in relevant .

Scholarships are used to study at a university in the United Kingdom or South Africa in a field of the student’s choosing that applies to the benefitting area.

Financial Benefit 

  1. Fees, tuition, and other educational expenses. The Trust pays the Partner Universities directly. As it covers maintenance support, it is a personal allowance that is index-linked under independent authority .
  2. Other allowances are paid for arrival, a laptop, and departure.

  3. For the initial voyage to the place of study and the return journey, Economy Class tickets are supplied.

  4. Spouses, other family members, and dependents do not receive allowances. The trust will cover any costs that may emerge in 2022/23 because of COVID protocols that are still in place.

Eligibility Criteria 

  1. The Beit Trust only supports students who are citizens of Zambia, Zimbabwe, or Malawi, who have permanent residence, live there, and/or intend to return to their home country after completing their education, according to a statute passed by Parliament.
  2. Applicants must be under the age of 30 on December 31, 2021 (excluding medical and veterinary doctors). Relevant job experience after completing the first degree is strongly recommended and will count toward the award of a scholarship.

  3. On December 31, 2021, doctors and veterinarians must be under the age of 35. They should have completed an 18-month internship and a one-year assignment in Zambia, Zimbabwe, or Malawi, particularly in rural areas.

  4. The Trust cannot consider applications from those who have already begun a course.

  5. The Trust will only consider applicants with First Class/Distinction or Upper Second Class degrees (or equivalent) at the undergraduate level.

Application Tips

Upload the following documents with your application:

  1. Before commencing the application procedure, you must have a signed Medical Certificate Form from your doctor. The Medical Certificate Form can be downloaded here.
  2. A copy of your offer letter from a UK Partner University, as well as a PDF document that describes the university and the degree you’ll be applying to at a South African Partner University.

  3. Degree results (including important credentials) and curriculum vitae (CV).

  4. A personal statement (only 500 words) describing how you believe a postgraduate degree will benefit your country and its growth in your own words.

  5. A clear recent photograph of yourself: not a passport photo, but something that shows you to your best advantage.

  6. A clear copy of your valid passport, showing the date of issue and expiry. Because it ensures it is valid for the duration of your proposed studies, and that sufficient blank pages are available to accommodate visa and travel stamp requirements.
