Bhupinder Babbal is an Indian musician specialising in Punjabi folk music. He is known for singing renditions of famous Punjabi folklore music. He became famous for lending his vocals to the music of the Bollywood film Animal (2023) starring Ranbir Kapoor.

Bhupinder Babbal was born in Qurali, Punjab. He celebrates his birthday on 17 July. His zodiac sign is Cancer. Bhupinder Babbal attended Khalsa Higher Secondary School, Kurali. Later, he pursued a master’s of art in political science at Government College, Ropar. During school, He joined NCC and became a grade A certificate holder and aspired to become a commissioner in the army. During graduation, he earned the Grade B and Grade C certificates of NCC; however, he took part in Youth Fest and found his passion for Punjabi folk music.

Career

After participating in numerous cultural programs at his college and on inter-college levels, Bhupinder Babbal decided to become a musician. After he passed out from college, he began singing at various occasions including marriages and wrestling matches in his village for money. He gained fame and recognition. He became known for his renditions of old Punjabi folk songs. He has lent his voice to many songs including Saint Soldier, Mirza, Challa, and Arjan Valley.

Later, Bhupinder Babbal started teaching music at S. D. College, Sector 45, Chandigarh. He has been appointed the judge of numerous inter-college cultural programs.

In 2023, he created the music for the Bollywood film Animal (2023) starring Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, and Bobby Deol. He co-created the music with singer B Praak.

Bhupinder Babbal Lip-Syncing during a live event

On 27 November 2023, during a live event held in Hyderabad for the promotion of the Bollywood film Animal (2023), Bhupinder Babbal began singing the viral song ‘Arjan Valley’ from the film. This event led to trolling online for Bhupinder as the videos went viral the next day and according to the netizens Bhupinder was only lip-syncing to the pre-recorded audios. Reportedly, in the videos, it is clearly seen that the recorded track abruptly stopped, leaving Bhupinder stuck on stage despite the emcee’s best efforts to turn things around.
