The Bloomfield Group is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students into their Bloomfield Group Engineering Scholarship for students. It is a partially funded scholarship for all students.
About Bloomfield Group Engineering Scholarship
The Bloomfield Group is an Australian-owned and runs mining and engineering company based in NSW’s Hunter Valley. Bloomfield Mine, in East Maitland, employs around 600 people and operates two open-cut coal mines, Bloomfield Mine and Rix’s Creek Mine, located 5 kilometres northwest of Singleton, NSW.
Coking and thermal coal are railed from the mines to Port Waratah Services (PWCS), where it is subsequently exported across Asia. PWCS was founded by Bloomfield, who is also a current shareholder.
Four Mile Engineering in East Maitland and Kings Engineering in Rutherford are two of the company’s engineering firms. The company also owns shares in companies that specialize in renewable energy, recycling, and biofuel manufacturing.
Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you must meet the following :
1. Be enrolled in the Faculty of Engineering and Built Environment in the second year or higher in B Engineering (Mining Trans Program), B Mechanical Engineering (Hons), B Electrical Engineering (Hons), B Civil Engineering (Hons), or B Surveying (Hons).
2. Be enrolled full time.
3. Show academic accomplishment by achieving an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or equivalent of 75 or higher for new students, or a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0 for returning students.
4. Show that the ability to study is affected or will be affected by financial hardship.
5. You must not be the recipient of the another University of Newcastle donor-funded or sponsored scholarship. or caregiving, lone parenting, regional or distant disadvantage, English Language Difficulty, or other traits of being an Indigenous Australian or Refugee may all be factors in their scholastic disadvantage.
6. Be an Australian citizen.

Benefit
The scholarship is ongoing for 1 year of eligible study, with a total value of $4,000 paid as $2,000 after the semester 1 and semester 2 census date.
Selection
The scholarship application and any required supporting documents will be assessed as part of the selection process. A key criterion for this award is financial need.
