Chevening Ethiopia Leadership Fellowship 2022 is one of Ethiopia’s most important opportunities for mid-career professionals and leadership.
Coaching fellowships will be available to those Ethiopian officials or government officials who are interested in enhancing leadership innovation skills and gaining knowledge in a professions-based environment.

Chevening Ethiopia Leadership Fellowship 2022
The Chevening Ethiopia Leadership Fellowship is intended for Ethiopian public employees and government representatives in the middle of their careers who have proven abilities in the areas of leadership, innovation, and policy.
Coventry University is the fellowship’s host institution in Brussels, Belgium, as well as other places throughout the UK (including London, Birmingham, Coventry, and other regions).
The UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office is responsible for funding the scholarship.
The eight-week course that fellows will take will cover the following key topics:
- Leadership for government and public policy
- Public policy analysis and management
- Evidence based policy making
- Policy delivery mechanisms and measuring policy impact
- Personal public service leadership and impact
- Strategy setting, transparency, accountability and stakeholder engagement
- Manage change in public policy
There will also be options for project collaboration with other UK and EU government organizations as well as study tours there.
All participants will get the chance to work on a “real-life” policy-based project, which may also include a brief placement in a relevant government office.
The program will include specialty guest speeches from accomplished government officials and policy makers, interactive workshops conducted by expert tutors, and formal and informal networking opportunities.
Starting later in 2022, this fellowship program will be offered.

Eligibility criteria for Chevening Ethiopia Leadership Fellowship
To be eligible for a Chevening Ethiopia Leadership Fellowship, you must:
- Be a citizen of Ethiopia and currently live in the country
- Return to your country of citizenship at the end of the period of the fellowship
- Have significant professional public service experience prior to applying
- Have a postgraduate level qualification, or equivalent professional training, or experience in a relevant area at the time of application
- Have excellent written and spoken English to be assessed by fellowship assessment panel
- Already be, or aspire to be, a senior leader in the Ethiopian public service
- Demonstrate a commitment to leadership development and innovation
- Not hold British or dual-British citizenship
