China Visa Application Requirements for Nigerians 2022 Update

Types of China Visa

China visa comprises 16 major types, which are respectively marked with Chinese phonetic letters L, M, F, Z, X1, X2, S1, S2, Q1, Q2, C, J-1, J-2, G, D, and R.

Applicants must get a diplomatic visa and service visa through a government channel, which is not covered on this page.

1. Tourist (L)/Transit (G) Visa

Firstly, it is issued by those who intend to go to China for touring and sightseeing. Proof of travel such as flight confirmation and hotel reservation are required.

Again, single-entry, double-entry, or multiple-entry are all available to tourists. The duration of stay (each visit) normally is 30-60 days. Also, they issue multiple entries up to 10 years to US passport holders.

2. Business Visa (M)

First, a Business M visa is issued to those who intend to go to China for commercial and trade activities. Also, they usually issue M Visa for single-entry, double-entry, or multiple-entry.

They can issue M visas for up to 10 years. The duration of stay (each visit) is normally 30-60 days based on a particular Chinese Consulate.

3. Non-Commerce Visa (F)

However, they had used an F visa as a business visa before they introduced the M visa. F visa is now changed for a non-commercial visit.

They issue F visas to those who intend to go to China for research, lecture, scientific, cultural exchange, and study tours. F visa (for non-trade or non-commerce) is normally issued for single or double entry only.

The duration of stay (each visit) is normally 30-90 days.

4. Work Visa (Z)

Issued to those who have obtained employment to work in China. A government-issued working permit or employment license is required.

Z visa is issued for single-entry only. Holders of Z Visa shall, within 30 days from entry, register and apply for the residence permit in Public Security Bureau (police station).

The residence permit is good for multiple entries. Z visa is also issued to people conducting a commercial performance in China.

5. Study Visa (X1/X2)

Issued to those who have been admitted by a Chinese college. Student Visa is sub-divided into X1 and X2. X1 is issued to foreign students who come to China to study for over 6 months.

X2 is issued to those who come to China with the same purpose but for a period of fewer than 6 months. X2 visa is issued for single-entry only. They can issue X1 visa for multiple entries with validity for up to 5 years.

6. Private Visa (S1, Long Term)

Issued to those who intend to go to China to live with the immediate family member working or studying in China, or to those who intend to go to China for other private affairs.

The intended duration of stay in China exceeds 180 days. “Immediate family members” refer to spouses, parents, sons or daughters under the age of 18 or parents-in-law.

Original proof of kinship is required. They issue an S1 visas for single-entry only. Holders of S1 via shall, within 30 days from the date of entry.

Also, register and apply for the residence permit in Public Security Bureau (police station). The residence permit is good for multiple entries.

7. Private Visa (S2, Short Term)

Issued to those who intend to visit their family members who are foreigners working or studying in China, or to those who intend to go to China for other private matters such as visiting friends, divorce, inheritance, etc.

They normally grant the intended duration of stay in China as 30 – 90 days per visit. It requires proof of kinship for visiting family members.

They usually issue an S2 visa for multiple entries. Multiple entries up to 10 years is only issued to US passport holders.

8. Family Visa (Q1, Long Term)

Actually, they designed Q1 visa for Chinese descendants or foreigners who are spouses of Chinese citizens. Also, it is issued to those who are family members of Chinese citizens.

Similarly, of foreigners with Chinese permanent residence and intend to go to China for a family reunion, or to those who intend to go to China for foster care.

Hence, the intended duration of stay in China exceeds 180 days. “Family members” refers to spouses, parents, sons, daughters, spouses of sons or daughters, etc.

However, other family members include brothers, sisters, grandparents, grandsons, granddaughters and parents-in-law. Also, they require the original proof of kinship.

More so, they require an interview. Again, they issue a Q1 visa for single-entry only. Holders of Q1 Visa shall, within 30 days from entry.

Also, register and apply for the residence permit in the Public Security Bureau (police station). The residence permit is good for multiple entries.

9. Family Visa (Q2, Short Term)

However, they designed a Q2 visa for Chinese descendants or foreigners who are spouses of Chinese citizens. Issued to those intending to visit their relatives who are Chinese citizens living in China.

Similarly to foreigners with permanent residence status in China. More so, they normally grant the intended duration of stay in China up to 120 days per visit.

They equally issue Q2 visas for multiple entries. However, they only issue multiple entries up to 10 years to US passport holders.

10. Crew Visa (C)

Notably, it is issued to foreign crew members using means of international transportation, including aircraft, trains, ships, and motor vehicle drivers, engaged in cross-border transport activities.

Also issued to accompany family members of crew members. Multiple entry up to 5 years is only issued to US passport holders.

11. Group Visa

First, Group Visa is a particular type of visa issued to a tourist group that comprises at least five (5) members who must travel together in China.

Also, they issue Visa as a separate sheet instead of on the individual passport. One Official Visa Notification Letter from any head office of the China Travel Service (CTS), China International Travel Service (CITS).

Also, provide a letter from China Youth Travel Service (CYTS), or the Chinese National Tourism Bureau.

Requirements for China Visa Application

For the Business visa, these are the requirements:

Visa application form

First, provide one completed visa application form with a recently taken passport photo stuck on it. Also, all blanks in the application form should be filled in with genuine information.

However, false or incomplete information and illegible words may lead to rejection.

Visa Notification Form

Visa Notification Form issued by an allowed unit in China (Visa notification refers to the form of visa notification issued by departments of the Chinese government

Equally, get authorisation from companies and social organisations allowed by the Chinese Foreign Ministry.

Invitation & Guarantee Letter

In addition, provide a qualified original invitation & guarantee letter with signature. Also, the signature must carry a stamp from the applicant’s sponsor and business partner in China.

Again, the letter should state clearly the applicant’s name, position, and passport number. Also, it should state clearly the applicant’s company name, address and telephone number.

Lastly, the purpose of visit, duration of stay and specific itinerary in China.

Introduction letter

Additionally, get a qualified original introduction letter with the full name, title, date & signature of the issuing person from the applicant’s company.

Again, the letter should state clearly the applicant’s name. Also, the person’s present occupation and position in the company. Lastly, the purpose of the visit intended duration of stay.

Also, you provide the city intended to visit, name and address of the applicant’s business partner in China. Furthermore, you provide details of items, and the number of goods planned to order and purchase.

ID card

The original and one photocopy of the applicant’s ID card. (The applicant gets the original after the interview) 

Certificate of Incorporation

The original and one photocopy of the certificate of incorporation of the applicant’s company. (The applicant gets the original after the interview).

Other Requirements for China Visa Application

Other requirements include;

1. Hotel reservation in China and round-trip tickets between Nigeria and China.

2. Recent bank statement of account.

3. One photocopy of the applicant’s passport Bio-data page and visa pages with Chinese visa, if any.

4. Any proof of business connection with the inviting company in China (e.g. fax of business negotiation, contract, agreement, quotations of goods, invoices, bill of lading).

5. A list of the documents submitted, and other documents the Chinese Embassy requires.

Indeed, Chinese laws and regulations decide the validity and duration of stay. Also, they decide the several entries for the Chinese visa at the discretion of consular officers. 

Similarly, the consular officers have the authority to refuse any applications. Especially inconsistent with Chinese laws and regulations. Besides, they may change and /or revoke any issued visas, providing no explanation.
