The Office of the Head of Service of the Federation has decried the level of non-compliance with directives and advice on the COVID-19 pandemic measures in government offices.
The office said government workers are who should not go to offices are doing so, and are not adhering to the advice to limit the number of visitors they receive to the barest minimum, in order to curb the spread of the disease.
1. Labour Unions In Niger Reject Salary Cut, To Go Spiritual
Rising from an emergency meeting held at the labor house in Minna the state capital on Thursday, the organized civil servants in Niger state, have again rejected the planned slash in their salaries by Governor Abubakar Sani Bello-led state government.
This was just as the organized labor has said it will organize “special prayer session to seek divine intervention in the matter.”
The state government had last week, informed the state’s labor unions that it will reduce salaries of the state’s workforce by 30 percent and those of local government employees by 40 percent, blaming its decision on poor revenue receipt from Federation Account.
2. Centre: N-Power Not Utilising Creativity Of Nigerian Youths
Dr. David Ehindero, the Executive Director and Lead Strategist, Nigeria Workforce Strategy and Enlightenment Center (NIWOSEC), has said that young Nigerians have untapped brilliance, reserved and unexploited energy.
Ehindero said this in an interview with newsmen on Tuesday in Ilorin.
He said that the creative and unbridled restlessness of youths to create socio-economic change was not being utilized by the N-power program of the government.
He said that the N-Power program, which was introduced as a social intervention program by the Muhammadu Buhari administration, in fulfillment of its campaign promises, was supposed to be a welcome development.
3. NLC Begins Indefinite Strike In Cross River
Government activities were paralyzed in offices in Cross River State Monday following the indefinite strike embarked upon by the Nigeria Labour Congress.
The state chapter of the NLC led by Comrade Benedict Ukpepi had declared an indefinite strike over nonpayment of pension, gratuities, removal of names of civil servants from payroll implementation of promotion, among others.
Some agencies and offices rendered skeletal services and their workers closed early.
4. Taraba Declares Three-Day Holiday For Council Poll
Taraba Government has declared Monday, June 29, Tuesday, June 30, and Wednesday, July 1, as public holidays to enable residents of the state to participate in the local government council poll slated for June 30, 2021.
This was contained in a statement by Alhaji Hassan Mijinyawa, Chief Press Secretary to Gov. Darius Ishaku, on Monday in Jalingo.
“The public holiday is to enable civil servants to travel to their respective wards and vote during the local government election slated for Tuesday, June 30, 2021.
5. Bauchi To Build 250 Affordable Houses In Misau
In its resolve to solve accommodation problems facing staff people of Misau particularly civil servants posted to the area, the Bauchi State government has acquired a plot of land near the Bauchi State University Campus for the construction of 250 affordable houses.
This was disclosed by a Director in the state Ministry of Housing and Environment, Yamai Mohammed, who is also a member of the Bauchi State Projects Monitoring and Evaluation Committee (BASPMEC) during an inspection visit to the site over the weekend.

Jigawa State Government has extended the work at home order to civil servants in the State for an additional one week. This was contained in a statement signed by the State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila, obtained by newsmen.
7. Nigeria Releases N13.6 Billion Hazard Allowances, Life Insurance For Health Workers
The Federal Government has released N13.642billion for the payment of hazard allowances and group life insurance for health workers and Federal civil servants nationwide. It said all the issues raised in the 14-day strike action notice have been met.
It asked the striking doctors to live up to their Hippocratic Oath by calling off the strike action. The government also unveiled juicy packages for health workers in the frontline against COVID-19.

8. Bauchi Governor Orders Payment Of Salaries
Bauchi State Governor, Sen. Bala Mohammed, has approved the payment of May 2021 salaries of Civil Servants in the state ahead of the Eid-el Fitr celebration. His Senior Special Assistant on Media, Muktar Gidado, revealed this on Sunday in a statement.
He said the Governor has directed the State Accountant General to ensure that the salaries are paid on or before the 20th of May. He explained the development was to enable workers, including pensioners, to enjoy a happy Eid-el Fitr celebrations.
