DSI/NRF Postgraduate Scholarship 2022 Application Update

– DSI/NRF Postgraduate Scholarship –

National Research Foundation (NRF) is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students for their DSI/NRF Postgraduate Scholarship. It is a fully-funded scholarship for all students.

About National Research Foundation (NRF)

The NRF was established through the National Research Foundation Act (Act No 23 of 1998), following a system-wide review conducted for the Department of Arts, Culture, Science and Technology (DACST).

The new entity incorporated the functions of the research funding agencies that were previously servicing various sections of the research community, namely the former Centre for Science Development (CSD) of the Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC) and the former Foundation for Research Development (FRD) that included several National Research Facilities.

The programme will identify academically gifted African scholars from resource-challenged backgrounds to pursue postgraduate study in some of the best universities across the continent.

Over a period of five years, MINDS will fund and support 45 Honours and Master’s scholars to study at African universities outside their country of origin, while the NRF will contribute funding for 50 Doctoral scholars from the rest of the continent based at South African universities.

Full Cost of Study (FCS) or Partial Cost of Study (PCS).

Requirements for DSI/NRF Postgraduate Scholarship

1. Be a citizen of an African country other than SA, residing in any African country

2. Be thirty-two (32) tears of age and or younger on 31 December in the year of application for the doctoral scholarship and

3. Be intending to pursue full-time doctoral studies with effect from the following academic year of the year of application at a SA public university.
