If so, we are pleased to inform you that the Gates Scholarship 2023/2024 in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia is still open to Nigerians and International students, undergraduates, and graduates.

The Gates Cambridge Scholarship program was established in October 2000 with a US$210 million donation to the University of Cambridge from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

This scholarship donation is the largest ever made to a university for a fully funded yearly scholarship.

Students from Africa, Europe, and around the world are eligible for the scholarship.

Approximately two-thirds of these awards will be available to PhD students, with 25 awards available in the US round and 55 available in the International round.

What is Covered By the Gates Scholarship?

Scholars will receive funding to cover the remaining cost of attendance not covered by and the expected family contribution.

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or the methodology used by a Scholar’s college or university will determine this.

These include:

1. Tuition fee

2. Other miscellaneous fees

3. Room

4. Board

5. Books

6. Transportation, and may include other personal costs

Eligibility Criteria for Students

Those interested in applying must meet the basic eligibility requirements of The Gates Scholarship. These are the following:

1. The student applicant must be a senior in high school.

2. They must also be American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian & Pacific Islander American, and/or Hispanic American.

3. Students who want to study in the United States must also be eligible for a Federal Pell Grant.

Undergraduates with a high level of unmet financial need, including students from families with a total income of up to $50,000, may be eligible for need-based funding.

However, the majority of Pell grant funds are awarded to students whose total family income is less than $20,000.

4. Applicants must be citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the United States.

There are several Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation scholarships and internships available to international students.

The Gates Scholarship is intended for students who wish to pursue a full-time four-year degree program at a US-accredited, non-profit, private, or public college or university.

5. Finally, candidates must be in good academic standing, with a cumulative weighted GPA of 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or equivalent).
