Though there is no historical evidence of which tribe was the first to settle in the area, they said that the Gwari’s were the first to settle in the are even before the arrival of the British troops, others believed that the Fulani’s were the first to settle in the area especially around Barnawa and Rigachukun area. Some of the spokesmen of Gwari lamented that their people should have been the original occupant of Kaduna but they were gradually pursued out by the intrusion of settlers from their town. Although the Gwaris themselves were said to have migrated from the north of lokoja in kogi state, notwithstanding the possibilities of their being the first settlers in Kaduna cannot be over ruled. But presently do to the due to the domination of the state by many tribes it is difficult to ascertain which tribes are now the inhabitants, which is due to the high rate of development in the area. Those that migrated to the area had become permanent settlers and they have equal claims to those who first settled in the area, this is because of the culture, social and economic contribution they made to the development and progress of the area. Another reason that makes them to have equal claims was because the migrants enter into marriage with the old habitants.
However, final analysis concluded that the early inhabitant to Kaduna state were the Gwaris. ( )
The religion set up and practices in Kaduna is dominated by the Muslims, also with high population of Christians but the traditional religion or paganism are few in number.( )
