How to Apply for Australian Mathematics Competition in 2020 See Update.

Australian Mathematics Competition: AMC is a mathematics competition run by the Australian Mathematics Trust for students from year 3 up to year 12 in Australia and their equivalent grades in other countries.

Its inception commenced Australian Capital Territory in 1976, since then, the participation numbers have increased to around 600,000, with around 100,000 being from outside Australia, making it the world’s largest mathematics competition.

How to Apply

The office maintains a register of schools, this register includes virtually every school in Australia and schools from many other countries throughout the world.

Each school is sent an invitation in February each year to enter its pupils for that year’s event. The AMC is usually held in late July or early August.

Entry can be made by schools online. Interested schools can email or register online at the Australian mathematics competition website.

Each school will be expected to pay an entry fee and the entry fee is consistent with the AMC status as a true not-for-profit entity.

If any surplus is made in a particular year the money remains within the Trust for use in the following year(s). The fee varies from time to time, between countries (dependent on costs such as postage and freight) and sometimes within countries.

Note: to check for the entry fee, you can email or write to the AMC website

Note: The AMC is available both online and as a paper-based competition and is usually held in July.

Students who receive an award in the competition will be celebrated for their achievement within the College Community.

You will need to download the permission form and return it with your payment of $6 no later than Tuesday 12th July (second day of Term 3).

Please note that as this is an Australia wide competition, no late entries can be accepted.
