The simplest way to accomplish this is to repeatedly fold the bag’s top over itself after opening it.

In order to keep the bag sealed, if you want to do this, store your chips with the folds facing down and lay a heavy object over the folds.

An alternative is to fold a couple of layers on top of the corners before folding the corners towards the middle of the bag.

Then, to make an airtight seal, insert your thumbs into the corner folds and flip them over the top of the bag.

To close the bag, fold the top 1–2 inches of the bag over on top of itself.

When the first fold is finished, apply pressure along the seam where it was folded.

Grab the top of the bag by sliding your thumb beneath the fold.

Make a second fold that is identical in size to your previous one. Once you’ve made 5–6 folds, repeat the process.

Place the bag on top of itself, upside down. Turn the bag you are using upside-down so that the folds are on the bottom.

Your bag of chips should continue to fold on its own. Put a vase, bowl, or other heavy objects on top of the folds to keep them weighed down in order to prevent the folds from unraveling over time.

Resealing Chip Bags with a Hair Straightener

One of the simplest, most dependable, and cost-effective ways to seal our bags is with a hair straightening flat iron.

The temperature range of most hair straightening flat irons, which is 375-425 degrees Fahrenheit, produces the finest seal when used to heat seal laminated foil barrier bags.

Simply plug it in, turn it on, and let it warm up for about a minute.

Then, depending on the bag in front of you, simply clamp down on the opening of your snack and hold for one or two seconds.
