In partnership in collaboration with Mastercard Foundation, the West African Research Association (WARA) is delighted to announce the Ideas Matter doctoral fellowships that will help youngsters West African students for the academic year 2022-2022.
It is a West African Research Association scholarship is available to doctoral students less than 35.
In order to be eligible, applicants must reside at West African higher education institutions to conduct research conducted on the continent.
Five applicants selected will be given a cash award of $4,000 each.
Established in 1898 in 1898, the West African Research Association is an non-profit membership association committed to the advancement of research related to West Africa and the Diaspora as well as scholarly exchange.
The publication of reliable information about West Africa and its diasporic communities, and raising awareness of the crucial role that West Africa in the global community.
Ideas Matter Doctoral Fellowships Benefits
The five winners will be each awarded $4,000 in order to cover the total expenses of their education. the students at any West African university or institute.

Ideas Matter Doctoral Fellowships Eligibility
- Eligible Countries The following countries are eligible: All African students can submit an application for the West African Research Association scholarship.
- Eligible Courses or Subjects Students must apply for an PhD research in West African higher education institutions.
- Eligibility Criteria: To become eligible, applicants must meet the criteria listed below:
- The applicants must be doctoral candidates who are younger than 35 and enrolled within West African higher education institutions to conduct research on the continent.
How To Apply For Ideas Matter Doctoral Fellowships
- Students are required to submit their application for admission through the application portals for their selected institutes or universities. Applications for fellowships should be submitted on this webpage.
- Documents to Support the Students: The students must submit these documents in order to be accepted by the school:
- Project abstract (50-80 words)
- Budget proposal of 1500 words
- CV
- Two letter of recommendations
- A brief description of the ways in which your work will aid in fulfilling the most pressing needs on the continent
- Admission Requirements: Candidates must meet the entry requirements and academic prerequisites of the course and the institution they intend to apply for.
- Language Requirements: Students must be able to meet the language requirements of the institution they have applied to.
