In studies conducted by (Genlry et al., 2003; Ivuy, 1998 Wallace et al 1999; Neel, 2000 and Mckeobun, 2004), using official records and birth certifications, the percentage of children with abnormalities varies from 0.75 to 1.9% where as (Shark, 2000), found out with data from hospitals and clinics birth records a variation of 1.43 not uniform but various variations were observed and thus was probably due to variations of malformations in different races.
In a worldwide survey, (Mchintosh, et al., 2002), studying the incidence of malformation comprising approximately 20 million births found out that 0.83% of children were malformed based on birth certificates, 1.26% based on hospital and clinic records, 2.3% based on intensive examinations by groups of pediatricians. The percentage was found to be 4.5% (Kennedy, 2005). When this figure was based on Examination of infants at 6 and 12 months of age, the percentage rose and an incidence of 7.5% was reported (Mchintosh, 2004).
