1. Why JAMB Made NIN Compulsory for Registration:
Registrar of JAMB, Professor Ishaq Oloyede has said the board introduced the use of the (NIN) for the registration of the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) to checkmate examination malpractices.
Oloyede explained that the directive for the use of NIN as a prerequisite for registration was from the Minister of Education, saying the motive was also for security reasons.
2. JAMB Makes NIN Mandatory for UTME & DE Registration:
JAMB said that for any person to be registered for UTME or direct entry, he or she must supply the National Identification Number (NIN). It is, therefore, mandatory for participation in the 2022 registration exercise.
The board explained that the registration would take place in 700 centres across the country, adding that the list was available in all the state offices and JAMB’s website.
According to the examination body, the registration for direct entry applicants would run concurrently with that of UTME candidates.

4. JAMB Begins 2022 UTME Registration:
JAMB says it has started the 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) registration.
Registration will take place in 700 centres across the country; the list is available in all the state offices of JAMB and on its website at .
The approved schedule for registration and examination is that the registration exercise will start on Thursday, April 8 and end on Saturday, May 15, 2022.
Candidates are also to note that the registration for Direct Entry applicants will run concurrently with that of UTME candidates.
5. ICPC Arrests Former JAMB Registrar:
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has arrested a former registrar of JAMB, Professor Dibu Ojerinde, for allegedly misappropriating N900 million.
Operatives of ICPC arrested Ojerinde on 15th March 2022, in Abuja,. He is alleged to have committed multiple frauds while heading JAMB and the National Examination Council (NECO).
Ogugua said that the Commission has detained him for questioning over allegations of multiple identities, abuse of office, money laundering, tax evasion and making false statements to the public officials.

6. JAMB Staff Paraded over Extortion:
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has paraded two of its staff members who extorted money from UTME candidates with the promise to help them secure university’s admission.
Registrar of JAMB, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, who expressed surprise that the affected staff defied the Board’s zero-tolerance for corruption, vowed to ensure they face the full wrath of the law.

9. Jamb Tells Candidates to Visit its Offices Only on Appointment:
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) on Wednesday called on candidates desirous of visiting its offices for any transaction to book an appointment through the phone.
The board’s Head of Media and Information, Dr Fabian Benjamin, who made the call in an interview with newsmen in Lagos, said that such candidates could begin the booking.
According to him, the development is in line with the NCDC’s safety protocols to curb the spread of COVID-19.

11. JAMB Remits N3.5 Billion in 2022:
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) says it has made an interim remittance of N3.5 billion to the federal government’s purse after the conduct of its 2022 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).
The board said it had earlier paid N3.5 billion to candidates by reducing N1,500 from the cost of ePINs sold to each candidate as directed by President Muhammadu Buhari. It said this brings its total remittances this year to over N7 billion.
The board also said it will remit more as soon as they concluded its operations and completed proper audit of its books.
12. JAMB Develops Mobile Application to ease Admission Process
In order to make the admission process easier and accessible for candidates, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has developed a mobile app we can use them instead of visiting CBT centres.
The app enables candidates to access the Central Admissions Processing System (CAPS) for all their admission-related issues from the comfort of their homes; the agency said.
