The Federal Fire Service remains one of the most significant or important components under the ministry of interior.
The body is a saddle with the responsibility of rescue fire prevention, mitigation, fire fighting and paramedical and information services.
The Federal Fire Service to date remains the largest and only organisation that provides fire rescue services to all Nigerians.
They have a core mandate to help reduce or regulate fire outbreaks and other forms of emergencies.
The Federal Fire Service goes as far as carrying out public enlightenment, developing policies, and even making recommendations on how to keep our homes, properties, government installations, offices safe.
Federal Fire Service Recruitment Update 2022
The federal fire service will carry out a recruitment process where about 2,200 new officers will be employed in various capacities.
When the portal eventually opens, the recruitment form will be accessed by any who wish to apply.
There will be 3 different positions that will be classified as categories. Each category will require unique requirements.

Federal Fire Service Statutory Requirements
1. The first requirements have to do with your nationality. Only Nigerians should apply.
2. Possession of the right certificate is another factor to consider.
3. We took the time in to explain certificates one should have for various positions.
4. Your health status also matters. They will demand a medical fitness certificate from you.
5. A minimum of 18 and a maximum of 30 years of age fall under those who can apply.
6. Your heights must not be less than 1.65m for males and 1.60m for females and chest measurements of 0.87 for men.
7. Be free from debt and be of good behaviour.

FFS Recruitment Process
The federal fire service recruitment involves two major stages which include,
1. Online application/registration
2. Shortlisting of candidates names followed by a screening
It will take the federal fire service department two to three weeks to release the names of successful candidates.
This is not the end of the recruitment exercise. The shortlisted candidates will write qualifying exams, which will probably be taken online.
They will announce as soon screening dates and centres as the shortlist is out.
However, the final selection will depend solely on the general performance of candidates, including their physical and mental health fitness.
Federal Fire Service Academic Qualification
Below are the academic qualification for the Federal fire Service Qualifications:
Part A
1. West African School Certificate (WAEC) with Credits in not less than three (3) subjects, including English and at least passes in two (2) other subjects.
2. Candidates must have National Examination Council (NECO) with passes in four (4) subjects got at one sitting or five (5) subjects got at two sittings, including the English Language.)
Part B
1. Possession of B.Sc, HND, NCE, OND concerning the applied position from a recognized institution.
2. Any added certificate either postgraduate or professional certification will be of advantage.
3. NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate.
5. National Diploma (ND) got from a recognised institution.
6. National Certificate of Education (NCE) from a recognised institution.
Federal Fire Service Available Positions
Federal fire service recruitment positions are in different categories.
These categories are based on the qualifications and certificates you are applying for.
CATEGORY A: Superintendent Cadre.
1. Assistant Superintendent of Fire I (ASF I) [CONPASS 09] – they reserve all positions here for those with a master’s degree or those that belong to a recognised professional body
2. Assistant Superintendent of Fire II (ASF II) [CONPASS 08] – this is for fresh graduates with a Bachelor’s Degree.
CATEGORY B: Inspectorate Cadre.
1. Senior Inspector of Fire (SIF) [CONPASS 08 – these positions are for polytechnics graduates hence possessing of Higher National Diploma is the minimum requirement.
2. Inspector of Fire (IF) Nursing [CONHESS 06] – for Registered Nurse (RN), Registered Midwives (RM) or Registered Nurse/Midwives (RN/RM)
3. Assistant Inspector of Fire (AIF), General Duty, COMPASS 06 – this is the least requirement in category B, here are the requirements: National Diploma (ND), NCE, or Advanced NABTEB.
CATEGORY C: Assistant Cadre.
1. Fire Assistant II (FA II) COMPASS 04 – GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO. If you have attended no university, polytechnic.
Also, college of education, and have no credentials from the higher citadel of learning, then you can apply with your O level results. They got 5 credit passes in not over two sittings.
2. Fire Assistant III (FA III) COMPASS 03 – be holders of GCE Ordinary Level, SSCE/NECO, and having just only 3 credit passes is sufficient for this position.

How to Apply for Federal Fire Service Jobs
1. Federal fire recruitment will be online. This is to make the process less complicated.
2. Log on to www.cdfipb.careers/or www.fedfire.gov.ng, www.cdfipb.careers/registrations/new
3. If you want to apply for higher positions which are Categories A and Bi (Holders of Degree and HND certificates) then click on https://cdfipb.careers/registrations/new
4. Make sure you fill the form well by entering your details accurately.
5. Those that are applying for lower positions which are Categories B ii and C (ND, NCE, NATEB, SSCE, NECO, or their equivalents) click here http://fedfire.gov.ng/rportal/welcome/auth also fill your information very well.
6. After filling in your information online, go through and correct the mistakes you might have made. Crosscheck everything.
7. Submit your application and also print a reference form, fill that reference form you have printed, and take it along during the screening exercise.
Federal Fire Service 2022 Recruitment Deadline
The closing date or deadline for FFS Recruitment/Registration has not been officially announced.
Once the deadline is announced, they will notify you.
Mistake to Avoid While Applying
Many people fail in many applications not because they are not qualified, but because of many mistakes.
So note:
1. Apply on time. Do not wait until the deadline.
2. You can only apply once.
3. So before submitting your application, make sure you are what you said you are.
4. You will be disqualified if you submit false documents.
5. Take time to crosscheck your details before submitting.

Shortlisted Applicant Update
If you’ve been shortlisted, then you’ve got your foot in the door. And it’s time for you to shine at the final stage – the interview.
However, when shortlisted:
1. Endeavour to get information about the company.
2. Also, ensure you have a clear vision. Try to figure out why you want the specific position. And how you would be a good fit. Also, go through your application.
3. Additionally, be interactive. It’s an interview, not an interrogation. There is much more to you than your resume.
4. The practice goes a long way. Thus, take mock interviews with your friends or practice speaking before a mirror.
5. It’s rare, but sometimes you get an offer letter directly based on your application. You plan the celebration, but remember some points before you go into that party mode: Get it in writing.
6. Also, go over the written offer. And make sure we mentioned all the important details and ask questions if you understand anything. Such as work profile, start date, duration, stipend, etc.
7. Send a thank-you letter to the employer once you accept the offer.
8. Also, follow up with an e-mail confirming your start date and expressing your enthusiasm for your new role.
