INTRODUCTION

Judgment: Is divine retribution against human activities. This judgment is designed to punish evil (Exo 20:5), to correct the misguided (2 Samuel 7:14-15) To deter His people from wrong doing (Luke 13:3-5) The day of judgment will be a time when mankind throughout eternity will be judged. On this day the living and the dead of all humanity shall stand and make an account to God (1Peter 4:5, Acts 17:31)

Righteousness: Is an attribute of God that sacrifice His holiness, spinelessness, and justice (Ps 35:24). Hence will not judge the world based on eye sight or rumors but with righteousness (impartial justice – Isaiah 11:4).

FOCUS

Categories of Judgment

(a)              Judgment of angels: Angles who are rebellious to God are held for judgment and mankind “fallen” 2Peter 2:4, Jude 6-7.

(b)              Judgment of believers works:- Our works shall be made known and open whether it be good or bad. (2Cor 5:10-11, Rom 14:10.

(c)              Judgment of the living nations:- At the second advent of Christ, all nations shall be judged accordingly (Matt 25:31-46)

(d)              Judgment of the wicked dead: These include all the wicked men from Adam to end of millennium (rev 20:11-15, Rom 2:16, Matt 13:30, 39-50; 24:51, Rev 14:9-11)

FEATURES OF THE JUDGMENT

·        It shall take place at the great white throne (Ps 9:7-8, Rev. 20:11)

·        God the father as judge (Heb 12:23-24, Rev. 6:10, Rom 2:12-16

·        God the son as judge (John 5:19-27 Acts 10:42, Rev. 19:11, 2Tim 4:8.

THE PURPOSE OF JUDGMENT  

·        To give everyone a fair trial before his eternal punishment (Acts 17:31, Ps. 9:8)

·        To mete out degree of punishment according to deeds (Matt 7:2; 10:15, 11:22-24, 1Peter 1:17, Rev. 20:12-13)

WHEN WILL GOD’S JUDGMENT COME  

·        A day that God himself has set aside – Acts 17:31

·        After he has exercise patience to give everyone a fair chance to repent 2Peter 3:9

·        On the last day … John 12:47-48

HOW WILL GOD’S JUDGMENT LOOK LIKE  

·        There shall be no favoritism – Rom 2:11-12

·        Those who disobey God’s word will be punished with eternal destruction… 2 thesso 1:6-9

·        God will judge the living and the dead -1Peter 4:5

HOW TO LIVE IN VIEW OF THIS COMING JUDGMENT  

·        Always remember that God will judge whatever you do Eccl 11:9

·        Put an end to anything that cause you to sin Matt 18:-9

·        Forgive from the heart .. Matt 25:28-30

·        Live a spirit filled live.. Gal 5;19-21

·        Use any talent that God has given you to serve Him – Matt 25:28-30

·        Live ready for Jesus –Luke 17:26-33, 12:46.

CONCLUSION

Dearly beloved, it is clearly evident that the length of the punishment for all sinners is eternal (Matt 5:29-30, Isaiah 66:22-24, Mark 9:42-48, Lk. 12:5, Heb 62.

            The Lord will appear suddenly to gather His Elects (Mat 24:32, 43) and to separate unbelievers for judgment.

            We should be prepared for this time (1Thesso 5:1-11) and avoid self deception regarding God’s final righteous judgment (Matt 7:21-27)
