LARVAE RESIDUE SEPARATION AND RESULTANT PRODUCT


After harvest, larvae residue were removed manually (by sweeping) and disposed.

SEED STOCKING

       Refining selection for stocking was conducted using sieve after the larva had fully developed into pupa. The larger pupa were selected and stocked to guarantee high ratio of adult emergence and hence, a high quality of egg for subsequent generation.

MAGGOT PROCESSING

The harvested maggots were washed using sieve in a bowel containing clean.  After washing the maggots were dipped in hot water at 1000c for 10 seconds. The died maggots were sundried for

2-3 days after which they were stored in an airtight container little quantity of the dried maggots were ground into power to form maggot meal (magmeal) which was prepared as sample for proximate analysis.

PROXIMATE COMPOSITION

Proximate analysis of maggot meal was carried out. Sample was divided into two, such as small larvae sample (SLS) and big larvae sample (BLS).
