– Mavis Brown Scholarship –

Flinders University is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students for their Mavis Brown Scholarship. It is a fully-funded scholarship for all students.

About Flinders University

Flinders University is a public university in Adelaide, South Australia. Founded in 1966, it was named in honor of navigator Matthew Flinders, who explored and surveyed the South Australian coastline in the early 19th century.

Flinders is a verdant university and a member of the Innovative Research Universities (IRU) Group and ranks in the 10-16 bracket in Australia and 36th in the world of those established less than 50 years.

Benefits of Mavis Brown Scholarship

Each scholarship will have a value of $5,000 per annum paid in equal instalments after the census date of each semester.

The number of scholarships will be determined by available funding. Maximum funding for each student will be determined by the normal duration of the course, up to a maximum of 6 years.

Requirements for Mavis Brown Scholarship

Scholarship applicants must:

1. Be Australian citizens; and

2. Be commencing a coursework degree in the field of medicine, law or engineering; and

3. Be able to demonstrate financial need; and

4. Normally be a resident of South Australia; and

5. Normally be enrolled full-time at Flinders University.

Process for Mavis Brown Scholarship

The scholarship will be awarded taking consideration of:

1. The extent to which the scholarship will assist the student’s education; and.

2. Academic merit based on applicant’s entry score into the course in accordance with approved University procedures.

3. The student’s demonstrated commitment to their chosen field of study.

4. A selection committee will be appointed comprising a representative from the Colleges of Medicine and Public Health; Science and Engineering; and Business, Government and Law; and a member of the general public appointed by the trustees of the Mavis Brown Charitable Trust.
