  • Enrolled in a PhD program at an accredited university in the fall following the application cycle (fall 2022)
  • Involved in computer science and engineering research in Meta-related areas, as specified in the Available Fellowships section

All accredited universities around the world can participate in the program.

You would not be eligible if you are:

  • Following each application cycle, graduating before the fall
  • While participating in the Fellowship, I plan to work part-time at another competitor company
  • Meta’s contingent worker. The CW wage and the stipend cannot be paid simultaneously.
  • Resident of Meta AI

We will not be awarding fellowships to candidates whose research falls outside the specified research areas described in the Available Fellowships section. Make sure you review each Available Fellowship description carefully to ensure you are aligned with the right research area.

  • Meta does not provide equipment directly to fellows, but they are free to use their stipends to purchase their own computers.
  • Meta’s savings account plans (e.g. 401k, Health Savings Account, etc.) are not available to fellows since they are not Meta employees.

Applications Must Include

  1. CV or resume. CVs and resumes do not have a page limit. You may want to include a longer CV to complement your achievements or publications in this case.
  2. Research statement. Applicants should submit a 500-word statement of research that clearly identifies their area of focus, its relevance to Meta, and its applicability to one of the available fellowships. The 500-word limit includes references or citations. Adding references and citations to CVs, which do not have word or page limits, will optimize the word count for research statements.
  3. Two letters of recommendation. PhD advisors or research advisors are required to write one letter of recommendation. The other may come from another professor or a contact in the industry.
