Nasarawa State University is one of the Nigerian universities managed and controlled by the state governments. The institution is located in Keffi, Nasarawa State, Nigeria. Nasarawa State University offers both undergraduate and postgraduate courses.

The institution has three campuses. The main campus has the school administrative offices with faculties of administration, Arts, Law and Social Science while the second campus in Lafia has the faculty of Agriculture with five departments there.

The third campus is the Pyanku Campus which houses the Centre for Continuing Studies and four other main departments.

Application for NSUK Postgraduate Admission

  • Any candidate wishing to read for a postgraduate diploma or higher degree of NSUK shall apply for provisional admission, through the School of Postgraduate Studies (SPGS).
  • Application for admission for such postgraduate studies shall be made in duplicate, using the prescribed forms obtained from SPGS on payment of appropriate application fees.
  • The completed application forms, together with copies of relevant certificates and credentials, shall be sent to the Secretary of SPGS.
  • The Candidate shall, in addition, cause:
  • his former University/Institution to send relevant transcript(s) directly to the Secretary of SPGS.
  • two academic referees to send their confidential reports on prescribed SPGS forms directly to the Secretary of SPGS.
  • All documents must reach SPGS on or before the stated closing date for the receipt of application forms.
  • The SPGS shall forward the application of each candidate to the appropriate department for consideration and recommendation.
  • Candidates for Postgraduate Diploma and Master’s degree programmes shall be considered for admission only once in an academic session at the beginning of each session. Doctoral candidates shall be considered twice (at the beginning of each semester).
  • Any request by candidates who have applied for admission for a change of Department, a degree in view, the field of study, etc must reach the Secretary, SPGS before the closing date of submission of completed application forms.
  • In respect of every candidate for admission, the Departmental Postgraduate Committee shall recommend as follows to the SPGS through the appropriate School or Faculty Postgraduate Studies Committee.
    i. degree or postgraduate diploma in view;
    ii. field of study (clearly and precisely stated);
    iii. the supervisor(s)
    iv. mode of study (in the case of a Master’s programme);
    v. status of registration (full  time, part-time, or sandwich);
    vi. other specific Departmental requirements;
    vii. any other postgraduate matters referred to it by an appropriate University body.
    The above information shall be provided on a prescribed SPGS form.
  • Neither the SPGS nor the Senate of the University shall be obliged to give reasons for the non-acceptance of the candidature of any application for postgraduate studies.

How to Apply for NSUK Postgraduate Admission

  • Application Form cost N15, 000 (Fifteen Thousand Naira Only). This is in addition to the payment of N5,000 only for Screening/ Examination Administration payable using Remita payment platform in any branches of the following banks: Diamond, Eco, First Bank, FCMB, Skye, Keystone, UBA, Unity, Zenith Banks, etc.
  • The applicant should check the University website for detailed application procedure and further information.
  • Pre-Qualifying examinations date would be announced later.

NSUK Postgraduate Duration of Programmes

Postgraduate Diploma Programmes (Course work/Project report)

  1. Full-time students:      2 semesters or 12 calendar
  2. Part-time students:      4 semesters or 24 calendar months;

Master’s Degree Programme

  1. Full-time Master’s degree by course work/project report/dissertation.
    Minimum duration:     2 semesters or 12 calendar months.
    Maximum duration:    6 semesters or 36 calendar months.
  2. Part-time Master’s degree by course work/project report/dissertation.
    Minimum duration:     4 semesters or 24 calendar months
    Maximum duration:    8 semesters or 48 calendar months.

 Ph.D Programmes

  1. Full-time Students:
    Minimum duration:     4 semesters or 24 calendar months;
    Maximum duration:    10 semesters or 60 calendar months;
  2. Part-time students:
    Minimum duration:     6 semesters or 36 calendar months;
    Maximum duration:    12 semesters or 72 calendar months;

How to Register NSUK Postgraduate Courses

  • Log on to the institution website 
  • Navigate and click on “undergraduate portal”
  • Login with your matric number and PIN gotten from the payment receipt.
  • Navigate to the course registration tab.
  • Register all the required courses and submit
  • Print the course form after a successful registration.

How to Check NSUK Postgraduate Results

You can always view results at the departmental notice board and it becomes uploaded onto the portal, please follow the steps below to view it:

  • Log on to the institution website 
  • Navigate and click on “undergraduate portal”
  • Login with your matric number and PIN gotten from the payment receipt.
  • Navigate to the results tab and view your results.
