About the Nigerian Police Force

Nigeria Police Force was first established in 1820. In 1879 a 1,200-member armed paramilitary Hausa Constabulary was formed. In 1896 the Lagos Police was established.

A similar force, the Niger Coast Constabulary, was formed in Calabar in 1894 under the newly proclaimed Niger Coast Protectorate.

Nigeria Police Requirement 2021 and Qualifications

Applicants must have a passion for a career in the Nigeria Police Force and must satisfy the following:

  1. The applicant shall be of Nigerian origin by birth and possess National Identity Number (NIN).
  2. Applicant must possess a minimum of Five (5) Credits in not more than two sittings in WASSCE/GCE/NECO/NABTEB with credit passes in English and Mathematics
  3. All Applicant must be aged between 17 – 25 years
  4. Applicant must be medically, physically, and psychologically fit and must not be less than 1.67m tall for males and 1.64m tall for female
  5. Also, all Applicant must not have less than 86cm (34 inches) expanded chest measurement (for men only)
  6. Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of the recruitment
  7. All applicants must be free from any pecuniary embarrassment
  8. Applicant must print their completed online forms, guarantor forms and submit the same at the examination/screening and recruitment centre.

A candidate who is suffering from any one of the underlisted abnormalities or deformities shall not be accepted for enlistment into the :

  1. Impediment in speech
  2. Gross malformation of teeth or jaw preventing proper mastication of food
  3. Knock knees
  4. Bowlegs
  5. Bent knees, i.e Knees that cannot be straightened when standing at attention
  6. Deformed Hands that cannot perform the full functions of the hand
  7. Defective eyesight or squint eyes
  8. Amputation of any part of the body

Meanwhile for Specialist:

  1. To apply for a Specialist position, candidates must possess relevant certificates and/or credentials in the required technical discipline.
  2. This Certificate must be equivalent to the minimum entry qualification(s) of the position applied for.
  3. During application, ensure that you click on the Specialists’ Option Button and then select the appropriate field you qualify for from the list of possible positions.
  4. You MUST have a functional/working email address before you proceed with your application!
