Nigerian Navy List of Successful Candidates for DSSC Course 28 is Finally Out

Nigerian Navy has released the list of successful candidates for the 28 Course DSSC Successful Candidates. Candidates who applied can now check the portal www.joinnigeriannavy.com to see if they qualified for the next stage. If they are successful, they will move onto the zonal screening exercise.‎

The Nigerian Navy wishes to inform the general public that the list of successful candidates at the Direct Short Service Commission (DSSC) Course 28 Selection Board Exercise held at Nigerian Naval College Onne Port Harcourt has been released.

General Instruction

Candidates must come along with the originals and photocopies of their credentials, which include birth certificate/declaration of age, letter of indigeneship, junior/senior secondary school testimonials, and certificates (WAEC/NECO/GCE), NYSC Discharge/Exemption certificate.

Any candidate who fails to present originals of the stated documents will not be accepted into the College.

Candidates are to also come along with the following items:

  • Two pairs of white shorts
  • Two pairs of white trousers.
  • Two pairs of blue shorts and white round neck vests.
  • One pair of black trousers.
  • One belt (preferably black).
  • One pair of black cover shoes.
  • Black polish brushes, shaving kit, and toiletries.
  • Two white shirts (long sleeves).
  • Two pairs of white socks.
  • Two pairs of white canvas shoes.
  • One lounge suite (dark color).
  • Two white bed sheets and pillowcases for 8 spring beds.
  • Four recent passport photographs (colored).
  • Female candidates should come along with the following items in addition:
    • Two pairs of trouser suit.
    • Two lounge skirts.
    • One pair of black low heel cover shoes.
    • Two pairs of black or blue short tights.

The successful candidates are hereby inform that they should attend an interview which will include the main screening exercise, Verification of credentials/Certificates and medical/physical examination.

Note: Candidates will not be allowed to receive visitors once taken on strength. Candidates will not also be allowed to leave the College premises for the first three months of training. Candidates and their families/loved ones are to please note the above for strict compliance.

Shortlisted Applicant Update

If you’ve been shortlisted, then you’ve got your foot in the door. And it’s time for you to shine at the final stage – the interview.

However, it could be a telephonic, Skype, or face-to-face interview. And this is depending on the employer. When shortlisted:

  1. Endeavor to get information about the company.
  2. Also, ensure you have a clear vision. Try to figure out why you want the specific position. And how you would be a good fit. Also, go through your application.
  3. Additionally, be interactive. It’s an interview, not an interrogation. There is much more to you than your resume.
  4. The practice goes a long way. Thus, take mock interviews with your friends or practice speaking before a mirror.
  5. It’s rare, but sometimes you do get an offer letter directly based on your application. You start planning the celebration, but remember some points before you go into that party mode: Get it in writing.
  6. Also, go over the written offer in detail. And make sure all important details are mentioned and ask questions if you don’t understand anything. Such as work profile, start date, duration, and stipend, etc.
  7. Send a thank-you letter to the employer, once you accept the offer.
  8. Also, follow up with an e-mail confirming your start date and expressing your enthusiasm for your new role.
