For a functional family care fellowship, there must be a systematically planned format as well as common goals and disciplines to be covenanted upon:
A: Operational format
1. Opening prayers – 3 minutes
2. Singing – 5 minutes
3. Testimonies – 10 minutes
4. Bible study and Discussion – 30 minutes
5. Offering – 2 minutes
6. Follow-up/Visitation Report and submission of prayer requests
12 minutes
7. Praises and Intercession – 15 minutes
8. Follow-up schedules – 7 “
9. Closure with Benediction – 3 “
Total Period: – I hour, 30 minutes
B. Family life Covenant: This is an agreement on some common goals and disciplines which we shall all give ourselves to so as to enhance the strength and progress of the fellowship:
1. Attendance: This means that are to give great priority to family care fellowship meetings. Thus you will leave the time the church and the fellowship has set for the meeting vacant except on emergency.
2. Openness: To be open to the Holy Spirit for Conviction and to the brethren by confiding personal problem to them. It is a mark of selfishness and pride to bear ones burden alone.
3. Confidentiality: To keep personal matters and individual problems that are shared in the fellowship in strict confidence. It should not be discussed outside.
4. Accountability: To give permission to the fellowship members to comes into your life and “hold you accountable” for your life and actions.
5. Personal Evangelism: Members are to will fully accept telling their neighbours of God’s love and mercy, showing them how they can enjoy it and bringing them to the fellowship.
6. Follow-up/Visitation: To weekly go out and see other members of the fellowship and share profitable Christ-centred testimony and experiences with them.
