POOR RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE HEAD TEACHER AND THE STAFF IN EDUCATION SECTOR

  The success of any educational programme depends on the degree of harmonious relationship that exists between the principle and other staff member.

  According to Fafunwa (1974:4) the centralization of powers by the headmaster leads to poor headmaster staff relationship. In addition, Fafunwa (1974:5) noted that the implication of poor headmaster staff member relationship is the degeneration of law and order in the school. He further noted that once a headmaster gives a teacher the impression that his main job is to teach his subjects and carry our instructions given to him. The teacher therefore ceases t o be

an effective member of the administration, although, he is boldly present and leaves the discipline to be done by the headmaster alone.
            Fagbulu (1972:39) suggested that the effect of smooth and effective public education, the headmaster should operate along the line jointly suggested. He observed that this will make for a more cordial relationship between the headmaster and staff members.
