– PTDF Scholarships Application –
The Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students into their PTDF Scholarships Application for students. It is a fully-funded scholarship for all students.
The PTDF Scholarships Scheme
Under this scheme, applicants are invited to apply through PTDF to specific programmes at the partner institutions. And this is in any of the eligible countries. Also, check for the full list of sponsored courses .
Furthermore, the award covers the following:
1. The provision of flight tickets.
2. Also, provision of payment of health insurance.
3. Furthermore, payment of tuition and bench fees (where applicable).
4. Plus, the provision of allowances to meet the costs of accommodation and living expenses.
Additionally, the programmes include language classes. This is to aid scholars to settle into their new environments (where applicable).
Also, please note. This scholarship was established by Act No. 25 of 1973 which repealed the Gulf Oil Company Training Fund Act.

Selection Process, Criteria & Requirements
Also, PTDF scholarships are highly competitive. Thus, only applicants who are outstanding across the board are selected. However, a selection committee will be constituted to assess applications. And this will be done using the following criteria;
1. Academic merit as evidenced by the quality of degrees. Also, with full academic transcripts. And other professional qualifications acquired. Furthermore, including relevant publications to be referenced by applicants.
2. Membership of professional bodies.
3. The viability of the study/research plan (PhD Applicants only).
4. Applicants are required to make a case for their scholarship. And this is by submitting a statement of purpose (maximum 500 words). In it states the reason(s) they want to undertake the study.
5. Also, stating the relevance of the proposed study to the oil & gas industry. And its expected impact on national development (MSc Applicants only).
Requirements
To be eligible for the PTDF scholarships, please take note of the following requirements:
For MSc:
1. A minimum of Second Class Upper (2.1) qualification. This should be your first degree. Or a Second Class Lower (2.2) with relevant industry experience.
2. Also, you must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC).
3. Furthermore, you must be computer literate.
4. Additionally, you must possess 5 O/level credits. And this includes Mathematics and English Language.
For PhD:
1. You must have completed the mandatory National Youth Service (NYSC).
2. Also, must be computer literate.
3. Furthermore, must have a minimum of Second Class Lower (2.2). This is in your first degree. And a good second-degree certificate.
4. Additionally, you must submit a research proposal relevant to the oil and gas industry. And this should not more than 5 pages to include: Topic, introduction, objective, methodology and mode of data collection.
5. Plus, you must also include your master’s degree project.
Required Documents
Applicants are advised to scan copies of the following documents and attach to their online application forms:
1. First Degree Certificate or Statement of Result.
2. Also, NYSC discharge certificate.
3. Furthermore, WAEC/GCE/SSCE/NECO results. As well as the PIN numbers on the application forms. This is to enable PTDF to view the O’level results on the relevant website.
4. Additionally, attach a recent Passport Photograph.
5. Also, Local Government Identification Letter.
6. Furthermore, Master’s Degree Certificate (PhD Applicants only).
7. Plus, evidence of membership of professional associations.
NOTE:
1. You must have a National Identity Number (NIN) before applying for the scholarship. Also, you are expected to verify your NIN before starting the application (charges may apply though).
2. Also, ongoing PhD Applicants could only apply provided their Universities are among the PTDF Partnership Universities on the PTDF website. Thus, check this out on the website.
3. Also, applicants who have benefited from any of the PTDF scholarships in the past cannot apply for the same category of degree. However, except a higher degree.
4. Furthermore, applicants who are in possession of a higher degree cannot apply for the same type of degree.
5. Additionally, applicants interested in German Institutions should choose Abuja as their preferred interview location.
6. Also, applicants who are beneficiaries of any other scholarship need not apply.
Finally, please note. Applicants who successfully scale through the first round of screening will be requested to submit their transcripts.
Thus, all applicants are therefore advised to prepare their transcripts for submission in anticipation of such a request.
