The responses from the respondents were analyzed and the result is as presented below in answering the research questions.
1. RESEARCH QUESTION 1: What is the opinion of school of counselors about general performance of secondary school students?
In order to answer this question, the responses to questionnaire item 1 are as presented in the table below:

From the above table, it can be seen that, 168 out of 200 counselors representing 84% of the respondents replied yes that academic performance of secondary school students are while 32 out of 200 counselors representing 16% of the respondents responded that, the academic performance of secondary schools students are not poor.

What are the possible effect of poor academic performance of secondary school students?

The above table shows that 136 out of 200 counselors represents 68% agreed unemployment problem is one of the effects of poor academic performance of students
Majority of the respondents also identified other effects to include poor development of the nation, effects to include poor development of the nation inability to defend certificate and indulgence in examination malpractice.

From the above table, it can be seen that majority of the respondents identified a number of measures to be employed in checking poor performance of students, which included adequate supervisor, employment of qualified teachers, provision of learning materials and free education
