The University of Richmond offers non-binding Early Action, binding Early Decision I and II, and Regular Decision plans for the fall term for first year applicants.
University of Richmond admissions is most selective with an acceptance rate of 28% and an early acceptance rate of 33.4%.
Although, half the applicants admitted to University of Richmond have an SAT score between 1290 and 1460 or an ACT score of 30 and 33.
However, one quarter of admitted applicants achieved scores above these ranges and one quarter scored below these ranges. The application deadline is Jan. 1 and the application fee at University of Richmond is $50.

Essay Requirement
Only one essay response is required. Choose from the following prompts:
- What is an urgent global challenge, social justice topic, or racial injustice issue about which you are passionate? What solutions or outcomes do you hope to see?
- By the time you graduate from college, there will be jobs that don’t exist today. Describe one of them and how Richmond might prepare you for it.
- You are required to spend the next year in either the past or the future. To what year would you travel and why?
Word Limit: Minimum 350. Maximum 650 words.

High School Transcript
An official high school transcript containing grades 9-11 is required.

Secondary School Report
- This document is completed by a school official. It provides a profile of the high school and a summary of the applicant’s academic standing within the context of their graduating class.
- Any secondary school report form is acceptable, including a Common Application or Coalition Application form, or a form provided by the high school.

Recommendation Letter
- One recommendation letter from a school official is required, ideally from a school counselor.
- Up to two additional recommendations will be reviewed with the application; however, given the volume received each year, these cannot be tracked or acknowledged individually.

Test Scores
For the class entering in Fall 2021, the University of Richmond will not require SAT/ACT scores to complement your application.
If you do not wish to have standardize test results included in the review of your application, please indicate so when prompted on the application.

Supplemental documents are optional, and may be submitted in addition to the required application documents.
Students are encouraged to consider how their selected additional information will provide insight to their academic, professional, and personal experiences.

How do I get my mail?
Residential students will be assigned a University post office mailbox. Assignments for new students are usually made by August 1 for the fall term. Students may log into BannerWeb to get their mailing address.
The post office is located at the Heilman Center. Mail is not delivered to individual rooms.

Will I be assigned a roommate if my roommate moves out or withdraws?
If you want to request a specific roommate, contact Taylor Walsh immediately. A vacancy is available for an assignment by the Residence Life & Housing office at any time.
There are instances, especially during winter break, when available spaces will be assigned as soon as the space becomes available due to students being wait listed for an assignment.
