A Brief Info Rivers State University Teaching Hospital
The University of Port-Harcourt Teaching Hospital is one of the major tertiary health institutions in the Oil-rich Niger Delta Region of Nigeria.
It is the apex health institution in Port-Harcourt, which is the headquarters of the oil industry and the second most industrialized city in Nigeria.
As such, it caters for a large cosmopolitan population of indigenous and expatriate oil-sector employees, who are largely in the upper socioeconomic strata and therefore require advanced modern medical care as obtainable elsewhere in developed countries.
Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, formally Braithwaite Memorial Specialist Hospital (BMSH), is a government-owned hospital.
It was named after Eldred Curwen Braithwaite, a British Doctor and a pioneer of surgery.
It is located in Old GRA, Rivers State, a neighbourhood of Port Harcourt and is operated by Rivers State Hospital Management Board.
It was established in March 1925 as Braithwaite Memorial Hospital and originally served as a medical facility for senior civil servants.
It later became a General Hospital and has since gained status as a “Specialist Health Institution” before the institution was renamed Rivers State University Teaching Hospital.

Rivers State University Teaching Hospital Requirements
Aspiring applicants are expected to possess any of the following:
• Possession of B.Sc, , , OND concerning the applied position from a recognized institution.
• Any added certificate either postgraduate or professional certification will be of advantage.
• NYSC Discharge/Exemption Certificate.
• West African School Certificate (WAEC) with Credits in not less than three (3) subjects including English and at least passes in two (2) other subjects.
• Candidates must have National Examination Council (NECO) with passes in four (4) subjects obtained at one sitting or five (5) subjects obtained at two sittings including the English Language.)
• (ND) obtained from a recognized institution.
• National Certificate of Education (NCE) from a recognized institution.
• All candidates must have a valid means of identification such as a valid driver license, National Identification Card, International passport, Voters card etc.
• Ability to work with basic computer applications (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.).
• Geographical mobility within and outside Nigeria.
