The University of Amsterdam is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students into the Amsterdam Merit Scholarships for students. It is a fully-funded scholarship for all students.

About Amsterdam Merit Scholarships

The University of Amsterdam strives to attract the best students from all around the world to its international classrooms. Amsterdam Merit Scholarships are available to outstanding students from outside the European Economic Area. The following Faculties offer Masters Degree programs that are eligible:

Financial Benefits

1. The Amsterdam Merit Scholarships will evaluate for the scholarship only applicants with good academic records and motivation. The University of Amsterdam is providing the scholarship.

2. The scholarship might range from €2,000 to €25,000, depending on the faculty. The Holland Scholarship, of which the University of Amsterdam is a member, can sometimes enhance the Amsterdam Merit Scholarship.

3. A scholarship awarded for one academic year can’t be transferred to another. Before the scholarship sum is transferred, students who have been awarded an Amsterdam Scholarship must agree in writing to the conditions for applying for the scholarship.

Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must meet the eligibility criteria in order to be considered for the AMS scholarship. The applicant should :

1. Hold a non-EEA nationality or nationalities only;

2. Might not receive a Dutch study or loan (Studiefinanciering);

3. Not be eligible to pay the reduced tuition fee rate for EEA students at the UvA;

4. Not receive a full coverage scholarship for the same period of study as the AMS scholarship;

5. Have applied to one of the (Master’s) programs of the UvA;

6. Have been (or will be) admitted to one of the (Master’s) programs of the UvA;

7. Be able to comply with the conditions to get a Dutch visa (if applicable).

Application Details for Amsterdam Merit Scholarships

Applications should be sent to the Graduate Schools’ Admissions Offices. On the Faculty or Graduate School websites, you can find detailed eligibility requirements, selection criteria, and application processes.

Application Deadline

The deadline for scholarship applications differs per faculty. Most faculties have a deadline of 15 January 2022, except for some, which are on 1 March 2022.

Benefits 

The selected students will get a £10,000 scholarship to attend the University of Sussex for postgraduate study.
