About Chandranna Bima Scholarship
Also called Yojana, the scheme was launched by the state government of Andhra Pradesh to benefit laborers in unorganized sectors such as agricultural laborers, artisans, small self-employed people, petty traders, vendors, hamals, and shop employees.
The main object of the scheme is to provide relief to the families of unorganized workers in case of death or disability of the unorganized worker leaving the families in great distress.
All India statistics indicate that Andhra Pradesh is one of the States with a large number of accidents. The death or disability due to the accident of an unorganized worker results in misery to his family and hardship caused by reduced earnings and medical and other expenditures relating to the accident.
Hence, there is every need to provide accident death and disability insurance to the work towards social security. Further, even the natural death of an unorganized worker results in undue hardship to the family members left by the worker who needs to be provided some relief.
The government had already implemented a social security scheme to the transport drivers in the unorganized sector on a pilot basis and the working experience of the said scheme, it is felt appropriate to extend the social security scheme to all unorganized workers in the State with certain modifications to provide disability coverage also.
Noticeable Features of the Scheme
- All unorganized workers in the State in the age group of 18 to 70 years are eligible to be registered as unorganized workers and enrolled as beneficiaries of the YSR Bima Scheme.
- All unorganized workers will be registered under the Unorganised Workers Social Security Act, 2008 and enrolled as beneficiaries under YSR Bima Scheme.
- SERP shall facilitate registration of unorganized workers and their enrollment in the YSR Bima Scheme, data entry, maintenance of the database, hard copies of signed applications, and other connected matters.
- Assistant Labour Officer of the Labour Department shall be the Registering Authority.
- The registered unorganized workers will be enrolled as members under State Accident Death and Disability Scheme and Aam Admi Bima Yojana (AABY) and will also be covered under the Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY). The benefits under the YSR Bima Scheme are as follows:
YSR Bima Scheme Benefits
- 5 lakh for Accident Death and Total Disability: Rs. 2, 25,000/- (Rupees two lakh twenty-five thousand) from State Accident Death and Disability Scheme, Rs.75,000/- (Rupees seventy-five thousand) under Aam Admi Bima Yojana (AABY) and Rs.2,00,000/- (Rupees two lakh) from Pradhan Mantri Suraksha Bima Yojana (PMSBY).
- Up to Rs.3,62,500/- for Partial Disability: Up to Rs.2,25,000/- (Rupees two lakh twenty-five thousand) from State Accident Death and Disability Scheme, Rs.1,00,000/- (Rupees one lakh) from PMSBY, and Rs.37,500 from AABY.
- 30,000/- for Natural Death under Aam Admi Bima Yojana (AABY).
- 1200/- p.a. towards scholarship per child up to two children of the beneficiary studying 9th, 10th, Intermediate, or ITI.

The Chandranna Bheema Scholarship for students is awarded to study the courses offered by the university/college. Also, the scholarships are available for the 9th, 10th, Intermediate, or ITI.

Eligibility for this Scholarship:
To be eligible for the Chandranna Bima Scholarship 2021, applicants must be either of the following.
- Unorganized workers aged 18 to 59 (according to AABY standards).
- Unorganized workers in the 60 to 70 age group.
- Students from India are eligible to apply.
- Free studies are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university.
- Unorganized workers in the age group of 18 to 59 years (as per AABY norms):
Accident Death and Total Disability relief: Rs. 5 lakh.
Partial Disability relief: up to Rs.3, 62,500/-
Natural Death relief: Rs.30,000/-
grant: Rs.1200/- p.a. per child (up to two children).
- Unorganized workers in the age group of 60 to 70 years:
Accident Death and Total Disability relief: Rs. 4.25 lakh.
Partial Disability relief: up to Rs.3,25,000/-
Note: Not eligible for Natural death relief and prize as per AABY norms.
