– Dr Geoffrey Leonard AM Scholarship –

Dr Geoffrey Leonard AM is now accepting applications from suitably qualified students into their Dr Geoffrey Leonard AM Scholarship for students. It is a partially funded scholarship for all students.

About Dr Geoffrey Leonard AM Scholarship

Dr Geoffrey Leonard founded this award in 2009 to help to qualify students from rural and distant locations who are pursuing a degree in business, commerce, or accounting. Dr Geoffrey Leonard was named one of the ‘Magnificent seven,’ one of the most successful owner-operated enterprises in the Hunter in the last 25 years, and received the 1999 Newton-John Award.

He was a University of Newcastle graduate who served on the University Council and the University of Newcastle Foundation Board, as well as Newcastle Innovation and the Hunter Medical Research Institute. He is a well-known and a long-time University supporter.

Eligibility

To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you must meet the following criteria:

1. Be enrolled in the 1st or 2nd year of the Bachelor of Business, Bachelor of Commerce or a combined degree where both degrees are offered by the Newcastle Business School or Newcastle Law School.

2. Show academic accomplishment by achieving an Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) or equivalent of 75 or higher for new students, or a Grade Point Average (GPA) of 5.0 for returning students.

3. Show the impact of personal circumstances such as caregiver, lone parent, financial difficulties, English language problem, Indigenous Australians, long-term medical condition or abuse consequences, handicap, refugee status, regional/remote disadvantage.

4. Not have previously completed a degree.

5. Not be the recipient of another University of Newcastle donor-funded or sponsored scholarship concurrently.

6. Be an Australian citizen, Australian Permanent Resident (includes New Zealand Permanent Residents).

1. Your application will not be processed unless you provide documentation. Prior to completing the online application procedure, please have all required documents ready to upload as PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPEG, or JPG files.

Benefit

The scholarship benefits 4,000, paid in two lump sums of $2,000 following semester one and semester two census dates.

Selection

The scholarship application and any required supporting documents will be assessed as part of the selection process. merit, such as your ATAR (Australian Tertiary Admissions Rank) or equivalent, may be considered.
